When you open the bag, you are hit with a delicious smell from this food. It’s a small kibble that’s very tender and easy for my little ones to chew and digest. I’m so happy I have finally found a kibble that they like. I switched between a RAW diet and a kibble and this one is a hit with my picky little Shih Tzu’s.

We were really hopeful about Carna4—it has some of the highest quality, whole food ingredients on the market, and we love the air-baked, synthetic-free approach. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t the right fit for our dog. While he’s not typically picky, he showed very little interest in this food, especially at breakfast. We think the lack of fragrance and the chalky, slightly powdery texture may have contributed to that.Another issue we noticed was how quickly it digests. This may be great for some dogs, but in our case, it seemed to lead to empty stomach acid reflux in the mornings, which resulted in skipped meals and occasional vomiting.We still respect the integrity of the product and appreciate the clean ingredients—it just didn’t work for our pup’s taste or digestive needs.

I transitioned to this dog food very slowly, over a 2 1/2 month period because I still had some old dog food left over. I had high hopes given the reviews, but she never adjusted to it. She became lethargic, nauseous to the point of dry heaving over the side of the couch / bed and began refusing breakfast. Had to switch back to Farmina and could not return an unopened bag.

My dog loves the duck one, but was not fond of the chicken one. No idea why.
