Many of the older lathes would feed and turn in both directions, also cutting right hand threads

Why does it list the threading insert as 16er ag60 when it is actually 11er ag60?

I noticed that to, probably a misprint, I reground mine to fit my thread guage. You should always check a thread cutting tool with your guage.

What is the purpose of the 16mm shank holder or how would you use that with a 12mm setup?

I believe it is to achieve a stronger more rigid set up. I had to cut the shank down in one direction to fit my tool post
