While the pot says it is microwave safe, I have always heated water in my teakettle. I think the pot would get too hot and be difficult to handle. I would recommend not putting it in the microwave.

No. This tea-for-one was never intended to be used on the stovetop. I wouldn't recommend the microwave either, but you are less likely to damage it there.
