Would this be effective to spray on garbage cans to keep flies away?

While it is great for gnats, I would not choose to use it for garbage cans. Other products would be better for thst I think.

I just spray it on my skin and hair before I go outside. It works really well to keep gnats away. I'm not sure if it works for mosquitoes though.
