Good, When Paired with Proper Training
There is no easy solution for a pulling dog. Teaching your pup to walk next to you takes a lot of discipline on your end and consistency in training. The Gentle Leader can help with that by creating an unpleasant pressure above your dog's snout when he pulls. Ideally, it should teach your dog to walk next to you.I think the biggest success I see when using a Gentle Leader with my dog is the shock of having a harness around her face. She's so surprised by the halter over her muzzle that she responds immediately (that is, after pawing at it a little). She returns to my side immediately, if I apply a little pressure to the leash. There are 2 issues that I have with the Gentle Leader:1. This is only a solution if you intend to continue using the Gentle Leader. Once the Gentle Leader is taken off, your dog is going to quickly return to her usual pulling. The Gentle Leader has to be used alongside consistent training, otherwise it's not going to benefit you a whole lot.2. Dogs seem to get used to the pressure. Once the novelty of the sensation disappears, they may quickly begin pulling again, even when wearing the Gentle Leader.Using a Gentle Leader can be a perfect introduction to teaching your dog to heel, but it isn't a solution without proper training.

Good: my dog used to spend our entire walk ...
So glad I bought this!It has changed my dogs behavior during walks. You do need to get used to putting it on properly.Good: my dog used to spend our entire walk pulling which was obnoxious, hurt my arm after a while, and worried me that he was practically choking himself. He immediately stopped when I put this on him and it’s wonderful.Bad:Every now and then he tries to rub it off his face with his paws while we are walking.Other people think it’s a muzzle for biting so he doesn’t get as much luvs from other people/dogs on his walks.

Don't leave it on your dog unattended or they may destroy it.
I bought the gentle leader to train a year old Carolina dog that was not at all socialized. She hates it but becomes very calm when I put it on her. I only put it on her when I need to clean her up with the hose or if she gets too unruly. She's figured out how to get the strap off her nose and has chewed the nose loop in two if she's left unattended. So I only use it as a last resort and only when I'm with her. A friend is using one to train her dog and likes the way it calms her dog down.

Good for a quick fix
It took a handful of walks for my dog (45 lb shepherd mix) to get used to it--she tried to paw it off her face and pull it off at first. But she's learned to stay by my side and doesn't pull much now. It makes walks easier around other dogs (when she would usually pull). But she's used to running to the end of her leash when looking for a bathroom spot. The pulling on her face sometimes makes her reluctant to go to the bathroom and there have been one or two times when she just wouldn't go. I expect this will probably change with consistent use over time. I use it when going on walks in unfamiliar or crowded areas, but continue to train her on a regular leash as well because the gentle leader doesn't teach your dog to heel. It just keeps them from pulling a lot while the harness is on.

This works!
This does work. There's a learning curve to getting this on-- for both you and the dog. He doesn't like it, but with a little coaxing will let me put it on. Once he realizes this = a walk, he's in. This was a new puppy who was pulling so hard that my back ached after each walk. Now he walks politely on my left heal. It's been only 2 months, but this allowed me to train for the words "heel", "stay", and "be free!" The later is permission to mark a tree. I've only tried a walk without it once, but it's a bit soon. He did not pull like in the earlier days but with this he's a good a good little soldier and walks are a breeze.

Cured our strong Cocker Spaniels' pulling!
We got this for our 9 year old strong-as-a-bull cocker spaniel. It has reduced his pulling by 99%. He still tries to forge ahead at times, and when he does, the collar "reminds" him. I got this in fawn, because he is buff, and it's not too noticeable. His is so much better for him than a choke collar; as I'm afraid of trachea damage from choke collars.

Very happy with purchase. Teaches dog how to "heel" without discernible effort.
Works exceptionally well. On our first walk, doggo would sit in protest multiple times, but towards the end, she was walking so close to my leg she was touching it. That's exactly what I wanted, and I expect that every walk she will continue to improve.
