The Best Filé Out There
I no longer live in Louisiana so I bought an off-brand filé and it just didn't taste the same. Zatarain's is definitely the best out there!

This was my first time going out on a limb and making gumbo from scratch. The recipe I followed called for gumbo file, and I had heard that file is one of the key ingredients to getting that real gumbo flavor. I am happy to say that using it for the first time made a big difference. It added a rich, authentic flavor to my gumbo, and both my family and I were really pleased with how it turned out. I used about a teaspoon, and that amount worked perfectly for my pot.
