Dangerous and wicked
I deliberately purchased the serrated version and the knife is solely EDC for personal protection. When I say this thing is dangerous, what I mean is that it cuts so aggressively you MUST be careful with it or else you're going to be bleeding all over everything. I'd never recommend a serrated edge for a utility knife as they're impossible for most people to resharpen without ruining the points of the serrations. It can be done but it's a huge pain in the neck. As it stands, if some fool tries to rob me every time I hit him with this blade, a piece of him is coming off. This is the most aggressively-cutting blade I've ever owned in five decades of using and training with knives. That's exactly why I bought it. That and just the sight of the blade would make anyone but a total fool reluctant to proceed with his attack. As far as the quality of the knife, well it's the same high quality I've come to expect since I bought my first Cold Steel knife in 1983. I've owned dozens of them. And this one is (again) viciously sharp and extremely strong when locked open like every other CS folder I have now or have ever owned. It locks like a bank vault. What you can't really get from looking at the pictures is how thin, light, and handy this knife is. Despite its considerable size it sits flat in the pocket with an almost imperceptible weight. This could easily have been a knife that was constantly trying to pull your pants down, as are some other robust folders I own. But it's not a chore to carry at all. I even carry it in the pocket of my exercise pants when I'm working out or walking or jogging and never even notice it. The only feature I don't especially care for is the feature that essentially duplicates the function of the Emerson Wave, a patented feature that allows you to draw and open a folder with one hand, all in the same motion. Essentially, a hook on the top of the blade that you can snag on the opening of your pocket and rapidly snap the knife open. CS has made an apparent end-run around Emerson's patents by having the thumb opening plate a little longer than otherwise necessary, creating an overhang that functionally duplicates the Emerson wave hook on top of the blade. It works extremely well. So well that more than once I've accidentally snapped the knife open without intending to, just by drawing it from my pocket. One of those times I ended up bleeding all over the place. I didn't mind so much as it pleases me that this thing cuts so aggressively. If you so much as touch the serrated edge with even the slightest pressure, you're going to be bleeding. It's a hazard but then, like I said the reason I carry it is because you could carve steaks off of an attacker with little effort. It is worth the risk. All I did is slightly alter the way I draw the knife from my pocket, then practice a little, and i have not inadvertently opened the knife since. If you want something that cuts meat like a piranha then this CS blade is for you. If you ever have to use it to defend yourself at the end it's going to look like a scene from a horror movie, but most or all of the blood will be from the attacker, not you. Just make damn sure you know what you're getting into if you buy it and carry it. I have over fifty folders, including expensive Spydercos and Benchmades and others, plus at least twenty from Cold Steel. Of all of them this is the one I carry for personal defense. And I know without doubt that if I ever have to use it, it's going to eat meat ferociously. Why on earth would I want to carry something _less_ dangerous if it's my safety and life I'm trying to protect?

Awesome. Few issues though.
I've carried a Spyderco Civilian all day every day for about 10 years. I wanted to see if this Black Talon measured up to my Civilian. I can say this: the Black Talon is superior in every way once it's open and in your hand. The Talon is very much the stronger knife. Both measure and weigh about the same. The Civilian is easier to deploy so I do still carry it over the Talon. While the thumb plate of the Talon can be used to open the knife by a pocket snag and drag, the Civilian just presents much faster and more smoothly; that's a big deal to me in a defensive knife. The Talon is awesome, just not as flowing a presentation as the Civilian which the Talon obviously mimics. A consideration with the serrated Talon is that it should go (kinda has to) go back to Cold Steel for a re-sharpening.

4 hour review (experienced high end knife owner)
appears to me to be a legit cold steal came sharp as heck the only blade I have ever bought I have been scared of. wave draws like a beast if you actually know how to do it draws smoother off the thumb plate than my cold steel recon 1 or ak47 very light for the the very large size (I wear large gloves with >1/4 inch slack for spec. within 4 hours playing with the blade to get accustomed to draw and hold patterns as most blade needs do it bit me once bad enough for a bandaid and poked me 3x because of how scary sharp and deceptively angled the blade was on a bottle test I'm sure you've seen online I didn't even notice hitting the bottle. maybe not as nifty as a spyderco civilian MAYBE but for sure at less than half the price with a lighter carry weight stock wave draw stronger lock and higher end steel the performance in a defence scenario won't fail you don't perfect be the death of great if it's what you can afford I promise it won't let you down

Buy It!
I know the purpose of this knife is for self defense but whatever. I bought this knife because I enjoy cold steel knives and I always wanted a hawkbill style blade as well as a fully serrated knife. -This is my 3rd cold steel knife and out of the 3, the black talon 2 has the smoothest opening and closing. -The knife comes extremely sharp. -I have large hands and this knife fits very well in them. The handle is long and when grabbing the knife there is some excess handle with is great for more of a chopping grip. -So far, I’ve used this knife for package opening and some wood carving. The way the tip is curved down makes it really nice for packages and the serrations bite into wood with ease and shaved right through it. -The knife feels a lot lighter to me than it looks which is a great thing. -This is a large knife and it does take up some pocket space. After buying a kizer sheepdog XL, I realized how much I enjoy large folders. Just keep that in mind when buying the knife. It’s large. -The wave opener works flawlessly and the thumb disk is very comfortable to use. When the knife is fully opened and the lock is engaged it makes such a satisfying click that’s addicting for me and makes me fiddle it open over and over. -I showed this knife to a non knife person and they were surprised that I paid under $100 for it. They thought it looked and felt like one of my more expensive knives. -The only thing I dislike about the knife is the pocket clip. The clip is very stiff and will pretty much only slip onto Jean pockets. It’s not as easy to slip into your pocket as a majority of other knives but at least you know that there is no chance of it falling out. Overall, I absolutely love this knife. Cold steel is probably my favorite brand for budget knives. This knife has changed my views on serrations for an edc folder. I’d definitely recommend this knife for someone looking for a fully serrated edge. Whether you use this knife for self defense or edc I think you’ll be happy with your purchase.

Well made! Should last a lifetime
One Grandson is an Electrician and one is a College Student in Agricultural Field. I bought one for each knowing they will love it.

Optisch macht es ebenfalls richtig was her.
