Surprisingly insightful, complete, and detailed treatment of the subject of hair loss treatment.
Although the introductory chapters tell a story of personal experience of someone determined to find a solution for his hair loss problems, the main content goes deep into organic chemistry and does an extensive literature review of several hundred research papers from scientific journals. It's unlikely that the reader with no previous medical training will completely understand the arguments presented there but even so, the content serves an important purpose: it proves to the reader that the author has done his homework. I do not know if the ideas expressed here are right are wrong but it seems likely that the author has read more scholarly research on the subject of hair loss treatment than anyone else on in the world.Readers who don't have the patience to read eight chapters about biochemistry can skip directly to the back of the book where the author gives his conclusions and recommendations for prevention of hair loss.I found his conclusions to be entirely plausible and reasonable, although I can not confirm that following his regimen actually prevents hair loss because I'm not personally suffering from hair loss problems. In summary, the authors thesis is that the hair follicles in the head are very sensitive and that they grow hair only when they are supplied with a healthy natural flow of blood. Under certain conditions the blood supply to the follicles is reduced, causing hair loss. When healthy blood supply is restored, hair begins to grow again. Since the hair follicles are among the more sensitive parts of the body, hair loss is an indication of declining health. Therefore we can restore hair growth by eating a healthier diet and living a more healthy lifestyle. In the last few chapters of the book the author gives specific dietary recommendations to encourage healthy hair growth. None of his dietary recommendations is extreme, difficult, or unusual and many of them are things that healthy people should be doing anyway.

Hair health connects to everything!
I read this thinking I would learn more about hair loss to help avoid that fate for myself but ended up wading into a much broader and more fascinating space of human energy theory, and particularly how the body’s metabolism (or usage and access to energy) relates to health. It also covers in concrete terms how to provide the body what it needs to have the maximum energy, at least in terms of diet. And it’s not a long read either!Movement and other behavioral and environmental factors are not discussed but are covered ad nauseam elsewhere, so there’s plenty more to explore! Bravo to Mr. Roddy! Must read!

A Similar Story
Back in the late 1980's when I was in my 20's my leonine mane began to thin a bit so I left the Standard American Diet behind and became a "health nut." I made a lot of mistakes a long the way, but here I am, almost 50, and people are amazed at my thick, dark blonde hair. How did I do it? I had no idea until I read Danny Roddy's book. I wish I had had this book years and years ago - it would of saved me a lot of grief... and time.A side-story: a few years back my hair began to grey noticeably. People commented and I figured it was just that time of life but then it stopped and completely reversed itself. Now I only have a bit at the bottom of my sideburns. When I tell this story people are incredulous ...My younger brother is almost bald and my father's hair is very thin. It isn't DNA as common wisdom holds. I wonder if the starting point with a man who wants to keep his hair is the belief that something can be done ... I mean, how many men really take the long-term action necessary? People know me that as that odd guy who doesn't eat much and when he does it isn't what normal people eat. But I am also that guy with a 33 inch waist, in shape, and - a head full of hair ...
