Fantastic adapter
Great - it converts digital HDMI video signals output from modern PC into an analogue signal required by VGA based computer displays. I used it to connect a new HP PC to an old Optoma EP721 projector. Worked very well.

Screen cuts out
This review is for the USB to VGA adapter. The short of it: it's a piece of junk and will likely give you problems. Spend the extra money and buy this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A2E1MQAPros:- Cheap.Cons:- Despite product description, I needed to find a driver on the Internet since it was not plug and play for me. I cannot share the link here because Amazon does not allow external links in it reviews. If you make the ill-advised choice to purchase this adapter, search Google or go to the website for the manufacturer (RayCue) and click on the "Download" link at the top of the page.- It worked after installing the driver, but the monitor hooked up to it repeatedly flickered (somewhere between every few seconds to several minutes) and occasionally lost signal completely. I ordered a replacement and had the same problem. Sending both back to Amazon as defective.- I am now sure the problem was with the adapter and not my computer/monitor since I forked over the extra cash for the Plugable USB 3.0 to HDMI/DVI/VGA Video Graphics Adapter (linked above) and it works perfectly. Plug and play (or "display" as they say) and no flicker or lost signal. If price is an issue, I would suggest looking for another adapter at the same price point. Otherwise, pay the extra $$$ and get a better quality adapter.

Great for less than 3 displays_ bad if not.
I installed this on my desktop which already had 4 monitors installed_ Excessive, I know. However when my beautiful panorama of gluttony encountered the addition of this tauntingly cheap doo-dad, half of my happily functioning screens shut down. I was left with 2 functional monitors. I'm not computer illiterate. So, the first thin I did was check the settings on my Windows 10 machine. I then checked it again on a Linux system and found that the driver hijacks "unsues" (used) ports from the graphics card to render one extra screen. It does work, but only if you have a graphics card capable of supporting more than 3 screens. This is essentially an adaptor and not suitable for systems with a large number of displays. There are are other USB-> ? products available right here on amazon. Do yourself a favor. Spend a little bit more and buy something that actually works.

died after using for few hours
I used this cable to connect a 1080p VGA monitor to a windows 7 laptop that supports 1080p resolution via USB 3.0 port. The built in driver didn't work so I had to download the driver from manufacturer's web site. Even then I couldn't get 1080p resolution, but I got some where close to it. Right from the beginning the monitor flickered some time and went blank some other times, after using for few hours it no longer worked. Don't waste your money on this. I am returning this product.

It did not work.
There should be an option for no stars because it didn’t work.
