Coldplay - X & Y Songbook

I don't know about the other buyers, but mine just arrived today and I've got to say I just freaking love it! It is indeed for piano, with chord boxes for guitar and the melody line for the voice. The arragements seem to be the originals used for the record, so when you play them it will sound fantastic!!! Now, if you a beginner, just don't buy it, as it has very complex progressions, chords and tempos. Other than that, it was an excelent purchase!!! I finally have all the music sheets for all the albums!!!

Good arrangements

It's harder to play this music than you might think. Although the writing and arrangements are not complex, the tunings are. I couldn't figure it out, however, I'm just a dabbler. I'll leave these tunes to the real musicians...

I guess I'm a nerd for buying a book of guitar chords for a 10-year old Coldplay album. However, this album has a lot of acoustic guitar in it, you know, before Coldplay got really electronic; furthermore Chris Martin likes to use weird tunings for acoustic guitar. That is the main reason to get this book, because none of the people submitting tabs to websites for these songs seem to realize that the songs are not in standard tuning. (note, this book is only chords, not full tabs). This is a pretty good book for all the tracks on X&Y. It sounds very accurate. However, there are a few BLATANT errors with chords on a song or two. It is on songs that use a capo, and the give the chord diagram for no capo. I can't recall at the moment which they are, but you'll know it when you're trying to play a song and the chord sounds totally wrong. You'll spend a minute making sure you've got the fingering right, making sure there isn't a little number there to tell you to move up to a different fret, then you'll realize that "Yes, I'm doing exactly what's in the book and it is not even in the right key." Another downside of the book is that some of the chords in here are very very difficult to finger. I am not a guitar guru by any means, but I have been playing for many years, and I find a few of the chords in here to be a genuine challenge to get right on their own, much less in the context of playing a song. I somehow doubt that Chris Martin was able to play these chords. However, it's a good challenge and sounds fairly good in the end. Lastly, this book is really hard to keep open. But I guess that's most Hal Leonard books. Overall if you want to learn the correct guitar chords for X&Y, get this book, there are not enough accurate tabs online.

I just ordered this book and it is NOT FOR PIANO!!! It is the guitar tab book. Despite what the Image shows and the description says it is NOT FOR PIANO!!

Great sheet music for some of the best piano music out there.
