FIRST THING I WANT TO SAY: To the people who are trying to determine whether or not to buy this knife because it has a welded tang; unless you are looking for a knife that you plan on needing to safe your life or fight off Vietnam, you should buy this knife. I chose this knife as a replacement for another M9 style knife I had purchased that was defective in my opinion because after a week of not using it the knife began to wobble in the sheath as if I had placed a kitchen knife in it instead of an m9 bayonet. This one seemed as though it had been dipped in bearing grease. Thanks china. All in all though this knife seems sturdy despite all the reviews saying it has a welded tang. The sharpening stone is a great feature, as is the small pouch and the detachable belt clip. The real reason I want one of these things is for the sheath. The sheath is a great tool I can take into the woods with me (with the knife of course) and it would be a nice tool to have for my bushcraft trips. I'm not relying on this knife for survival or for saving my life, like everyone leaving 1 star reviews because their $30 amazon bayonet broke. IF you want a bayonet that you can use like a ladder (as M9 bayonets are advertised to do) then you should up your price range to like $80-$100

Very impressed when I got this knife. The fit and finish of the bayonet is excellent. This blade is actually a shallow hollow grind in 2 tone, the grind is gray as is the filler and the top serrated section giving this knife a very cool Rambo look. The area around the above-mentioned, is a brushed steel satin polish down to the ricasso Serrations are surprisingly sharp and the fuller is very deep which I absolutely love. I find no fault with this knife at all, in fact, it is very good quality and you can tell each one is finished by hand and you can spot tiny imperfections, but nothing that will mess with my OCD, for example, the teeth serrations are slightly thin in the middle going but a bit thick near the ricasso, indicating the use of some kind of grinding machine, yes this knife is definitely done by hand. The Sheath is pretty good, fully functional wire cutter, and a built-in sharpening stone. In the pouch, I put my Leatherman Rebar, though it can fit a Super Tool 300. The Box that this knife comes in is a brown box with the specs and two pictures of the knife. It just says M-9 Bayonet and doesn't say Szco on it which leads me to believe that this knife is sold under different brands like the S&W silver model because if you compare the two they are identical but S&W overcharges because you pay for the name. I have no complaints About this knife other than it comes barely sharp. I literally spent half an hour for four days sharpening this knife by hand because I didn't want to use my bench grinder and create more work afterward. This was the toughest knife I have ever had to sharpen, that said, I'm glad I have a properly heat-treated knife that is durable and strong and is now razor sharp and sure can hold an edge. This bayonet fits certain Mossberg shotguns, AR-15, M-16, as long as it has the stock flash hide and bayonet lug. I have no problem recommending this knife. If you love military knives but don't have rifles and don't want to pay an arm and a leg for the American Models, this one is pretty good and looks like a more expensive knife when worn on the belt. Great for taking on hikes, camping, or keep in bug out bags. Remember, this is a combat knife, you risk significant wear and tear when using it beyond its intended purpose. ***UPDATE: SEPT. 2023;*** My last Szco Bayonet held up and never had problems with it and ended up selling it to buy another knife. Needless to say, I miss that knife so here I am 2 years later and decided to buy another one and see if the quality is consistent and boy was I wrong! The quality of the one I received is Freakin' AWESOME!!!!! Szco stepped it up on this M9 series of Bayonet and I am so glad I decided to go with this one again. The knife came even sharper and more refined than my last one. Absolutely ZERO minor imperfections whatsoever. I obviously stand by my original comments on this knife and have decided to give this knife a 5-Stars instead of 4. Quality control is evident, sheath is a little tighter, and the blade is absolutely flawless, Bayonet adapter is a little stiff but workable, if you were to mount this badboy on a rifle, it ain't goin nowhere! I am very happy that the price hasn't increased, which is why I am able to buy this knife again when other knives have gotten ridiculously expensive to the point where I don't even want it, not what they're asking for anyway, but this knife continues to surprise me. Don't risk getting a generic M9 or an overpriced Phrobis, Lancay or Buck bayonet, they're too expensive, and won't want to risk any hard use on those to depreciate the value, so definitely get this one, You can't go wrong with it and it's not crazy expensive so if you did something stupid with it and managed to somehow break it, it's so affordable you could always get another. Now, It's time for a short history lesson on THIS specific style of M9 Bayonet; Geneva convention of 1949 prohibited the use of this style of Baonet because the serrations caused massive external and internal tissue damage which is deemed as cruel and unusual punishment. Apparently, British and French forces told Germany they would torture and kill any Germans using serrated bayonets! So yeah, be careful if you do use this as a self-defense weapon because if you were to sink the entire blade into the soft tissue of a thieving, home-invading criminal, upon withdrawing the blade, you would also be pulling out organs, thus ensuring a slow and painful death which isn't too much of a loss anyway since I am fed up with crime and criminals getting lenient sentences, so do use extreme caution when you decide to pull this knife out. Anyways, I'm so happy I got my grubby hands on another SZCO M9. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE and will NEVER part with this one!!! NOTE: the handle and sheath are made from ABS plastic which falls into the Amorphous group of plastics, meaning Do not use WD-40 on any ABS as it will dry it out and make it brittle over time. Also, this is a Bayonet issued for combat to be used in warm climates. I live in Winnipeg Canada and it gets to be -50 in the winter, that said, do not use it for bush crafting out in the field in harsh low temperatures as temperatures below -25 start to affect ABS plastic, even though this ABS on this blade is well made and heavy-duty, I still wouldn't risk it. This is a straight-up self-defence knife and even in the winter I'll probably carry it using my shoulder holster so that body heat will keep it warm, I won't use it out in the bush except for very brief periods. The beauty of this Bayonet is that you could even make a solid handle using a block of wood or Micarta and just replace the ABS. This knife has so much potential and a wide variety of applications. Oh, and I keep forgetting, The ring on this seems to have been widened to accommodate a wider variety of rifles compared to the earlier SZCO M9's because I know for a fact that with my first one, I could barely fit my thumb through the ring, and with this one, my thumb easily goes through, bones do not shrink so I know that this could not only fit a Mossberg 12 gauge but the AR-15 and the M4 and others that have a bayonet lug and stock flash suppressor. Anyway, get one for yourself, you won't be disappointed.

This is a milspec bayonet. The problem is that you can snap it in half if you use it as intended. This is why it is for sale so cheap. It is a nice wall hanger and a piece of history.

I'd really like it if it weren't a reproduction made in China, but I knew what I was buying when I ordered it. I don't plan to be cutting any chain link fence with it and I imagine the wire cutter will handle copper hookup wire without issue. The blade's not razor sharp and probably can't be made and maintained that way, but it's a thick-bladed knife to start with: better for chopping than fine cutting. (Carry a good folder for that.) It's heavy and feels really solid. I won't know how well it holds up til I've had time to use it more, but the price was very good if it can take some abuse without falling apart. The aggressive saw teeth are not Milspec, of course, but they are sharp. Basically, I really like this knife for what it is and just hope the tang arrangement hidden within the handle is strong enough to hold it all together when put to the the test. As far as I can tell, it's a good knife for the money: less than half the price of a decent, used GI M-9. The barrel ring and lug catch are comparable to my M-7 in size and spacing, and many other reviewers persuaded me it will likely fit my rifle, although I haven't had occasion to try it, the gun being in storage at present. I mainly got it to use as a survival knife, anyway.
