AMOR ET MELLE ET FELLE ES FECUNDISSIMUS
Love is rich with honey and venom.I'd never expected myself to find such an immense pleasure to read a series set in Victorian Era. I've never read any classic romances nor do I particularly have any taste in romance novels - I'd not known that 'The Infernal Devices' is a whole pack of electrifying adventures and love so true that had made my veins go all rocking! The proses, poetries were so, so good - though not all I understand. But still, they were so lovely, enchanting and touching. I've no words. Cassy, you are truly amazing. The characters are really strong and gripping. I swear I so much wanted to live their lives...well, I did, I imagined all those things that happened, the words they said, the touch, the institute, its walls, its rooms, everything. I could picture the Infernal Devices, demonic and heartless.I love the way Cassy had used the characters of other novels: Sydney Carton from 'A Tale of Two Cities' ; Mr. Rochester and Jane from 'Jane Eyre' and many others - I don't know any of them since I don't read classics but after reading this series I've decided to read classics and 'A Tale of Two Cities' will be on top of my reading list. The Thames song and the mentioning of lines from the poem 'Prothalamion' - sweet Thames, run softly, till I end my song - during Jem and Tessa meeting on The Blackfriars Bridge was so rapting and beautiful, I was rereading it endlessly. There are so many beautiful lines in this novel that I almost had to stop to breathe. This is the first series-novels-that is so hilarious. I cannot forget Bridget for her dreadful songs. They were all so mournful and there always had to be poor William in her songs - though not always. Will's poems and jokes were muy chistoso. I was laughing all the time. The funniest part was his 'Demon Pox' song -"Demon pox, oh demon pox, I had it all alongNot the pox, you foolish blocks,I mean this very song- "and him referring Gabriel LIGHTWOOD as Gabriel LIGHTWORM. 🐛. JAJA. I'd a blast guys!James, Tessa, Will - they are all so full of desires and amusing. Their souls are knitted together for eternity. I adore them. I love them. All of the three are my fav, I can't say any one of the three. Just like Tessa had her heart for Jem and Will, I can't decide who is the best. I've my heart for all three of them - though not out of romantic pursuits! I'M NOT CATASTROPHICALLY IN LOVE WITH THEM.Women empowerment has been strongly depicted throughout the story. Charlotte, Sophie, Agatha, Jessie Bridget, Cecily, Ella, Tessa and others - they are fearless and not to be messed with. They all are Boadicea. The great warriors!Henry was so innocent and cute all the time. I love him and I love his inventions though they were quite destructive. Balios and Xanthos- a big thumbs up to both of them👍. Magnus - he is pretty interesting. I guess he is bisexual. I don't know, I felt it sometimes while reading about his feelings for Will. But he had cleared it was not so to Woolsey. I'm sorry, guess I'm just blurting.Antagonists they are the reasons for bringing all the terrific interests and the spine-chilling feeling through the nerves. The Dark Sisters, de Quincey, Mortmain, the demons, the mechanical creatures - truly horrifying.I've written so much about this series. I'm a real spoiler. But its nothing. I've not revealed anything in particular.I love Cassy for writing such a marvelous series and these lines are one of my favorites :-"Stars, hide your firesLet not light see my black and deep desires" - Shakespeare-"The measure of love is to love without measure"There are many and I've not intended to write a book admiring just how wonderfully these novels are written.Lots of love💕 to Cassy and her written works! xoxo =^.^=

Filled with love and pain, a series thats going to make you cry your heart out!
Set in 1878, London, The Infernal Devices (Clockwork Angel, Clockwork Prince and Clockwork Princess) is chronologically the first Shadowhunter series. You can either read this one or The Mortal Instruments to get into the Shadowhunter universe. I would recommend anyone new to the world to read The Infernal Devices first! This series follows Tessa Gray- A warlock who is born of a demon and a human. Tessa has a mysterious power of shapeshifting, where she can become anyone and have access to their thoughts. Tessa comes to London from New York on the call of her brother Nathaniel Gray who works there. But when she reaches London, she realises things are not as she ever imagined them to be. There are demons, vampires and werewolves and all sorts of fantastical creatures lurking just under human eyes, never revealing themselves to mankind. Tessa crosses path with the Shadowhunters- demon slaying half angel warriors whose mandate is to protect mankind.Out of these warriors, Tessa becomes intimately engaged with two best friends- or more like brothers in a way, William (Will) Herondale and James (Jem) Carstairs. Will and Jem are like to halves of the same soul, both equally opposite but so awfully similar. These warriors help Tessa in discovering her true heritage and in turn- get caught in a sinister plan that was laid years go and is now back in action. Tessa is the key to save the world as the Shadowhunters know it, or destroy it.Meanwhile Tessa cannot understand what it is that she feels for Jem and for Will. She loves both of them equally and cannot hurt either of them in any way.The infernal devices is a letter to love and grief at the same time. It begins in mystery and darkness and takes us to London and it’s fantastical underworld which is full of secrets. The plot is interesting, and lays down a solid foundation for books that would come in the future (and are still being published).Tessa, Will and Jem are characters who you want to know about, and characters that don’t disappoint. they’re very well written and fleshed out. The character development in this series is just excellent. Adding more to the plot part- it’s more of a romance than a fantasy. I’d like to say- a romance driven fantasy. The love that is between these three characters is something that’s beyond anyone’s understanding And that part is even executed very well. However, the fantasy part is a little lesser than I had expected (since I read it after the mortal instruments). The plot (discarding the romance part) is very predictable and plain. It’s good- don’t get me wrong- it keeps you hooked till the end but it’s nothing NEW or UNIQUE. I’d say when you go into this series, go in for the romance and not exactly the fantasy part.As I said, the plot in this series lays a foundation for upcoming books in the same universe (specifically The Last Hours Series whose first two books are out and the third will be out in March 2022) but that is it. I don’t have much to extend about the plot itself. But I can say a lot about the characters- because all of them are just so good! they’re not perfect- they have flaws and that’s what makes them more human and more relatable. There was not ONE point where I felt any character was doing something without a proper explained motive. There’s a lot of depth to the characters and it is written down very well in the narrative. The Authors writing style has improved drastically over the years, and the newer books are much better, but the writing style in this one is also good- lyrical and easy to understand. The first book does well in introducing new characters (a lot of characters are introduced) and making them each distinct from the others. Even the antagonist didn’t seem flat like I had expected. So in terms of characters, the series does well. The second book is A LOT of more romance and emotion than the first, because the characters are more acquainted to each other and know each other better than before. But that is it. The third book does better than the first two and introduces us to a lot of action and a lot of intrigue balanced with the romance part. But still, not equally balanced. Overall it’s an amazing series and some characters from this series are in all of the other books that come in the future, so That is really great because we know their backstory. The third book also has the most heartbreaking epilogue of all the books I’ve EVER read. I still tear up when I read it-So this will be my stars for the books-Clockwork Angel – 3.5/5Clockwork Prince – 3/5Clockwork princess – 4/5The overall experience of this would be a 3.5/5
