I purched this as I needed to make a memory box for my 5 year old who lost his daddy on new years eve. His daddy framed his first picture ect so I needed something to keep those in (so he knows how much those things and him meant in the future). The box is perfect it's light weight but strong, its size is perfect for storing those important things in a4 size without it being to tight to get them out easily. It came the next day and is exactly as described and perfect for why I bought it. Thank you so much and highly recommended x

Well finished box, good size, beautiful to make as decoration

Box looks good at first glance, with what appears to be a good finish, with a thin ply top and machine-made finger joints on the corners. However, on looking closer, the exterior sides showed a lot of curved scuff marks, I assume from the large diameter sanding disc that it had been pressed against to finish and radius the corners where the joints are. Some of these scuffs were quite deep and took a fair bit of time to deal with to bring the surface back to an acceptable finish. The underside of the box is recessed and less well-finished, and the bottom ply panel was undersize and loose inside the grooves in the sidewalls, needing to be fixed - a simple gluing job but unexpected. Surprisingly for a machine-made item, the box was also slightly out of square. The hinges were very flimsy and, as the box would be used by children, I felt would not stand up to much use, so I removed them and installed stronger ones. I also installed some latches to keep the box closed. Having carried out the remedial work, and spent some time sanding, the box did polish up nicely and now looks really good. If like me you want a natural finish, be prepared to spend a bit of time preparing the surfaces, but if the box is to be painted, or covered, then the finish as delivered would be acceptable. Either way, overall the box itself is good enough, and I would buy another.

Fantastic little box and great value for money. Very well made and ideal for storing all those little bits that you just have to keep but don't really know why. The plain finish gives the option to paint or varnish to suit your need. I would definitely buy again and probably will once I think of something else to put in it.

Our beloved cat Charlie sadly passed away from old age ( he was 17 )and we wanted to bury him in the garden. I started looking for a pet casket for him but the cheapest one was almost £200 so instead I thought that I would try looking at wooden boxes instead which are basically the same thing. I came across this one for £25.99 so decided to order it. The box was delivered the next morning before lunchtime and it was exactly as described (appearance and measurements) It's very well made and had no defects or damage in the wood, after giving it two coats of Danish oil followed by a final coat of extra tough floor varnish it looked just as good as the expensive purpose built caskets. We lined it with some fabric and it was more than big enough for him and a few personal items. The only thing I would point out is that the box will require a fine sanding before oiling or varnishing if it is to be used as a storage box but for our purposes it was a good enough finish as it was. The writing on the lid was done with a Sharpie and a stencil. I would more than happily recommend this box as it is very versatile and of a high quality. For those that are interested the label on it said that it is made in Poland.

Great box for all your bits and bobs. Can decorate if you need to. Good value for money. The only negative is the lid... I don’t think it’s all that strong, a little knock and wood can split and constant opening and closing seems to make it weaker.

The box serves its purpose, you get what you pay for. Once received, the box required some gentle sanding due to poor finishing (splinters). Sadly I only realised the lid was plywood after I sanded it down, leaving a rough unsightly surface (please see image). Tried staining the box however the plywood simply won't take the stain well resulting in ugly blotches.If you intend to paint and decorate the unfinished box then it is adequate enough product. One really can't complain for the price paid.
