My living room is poorly lit, so I bought this to act as an additional light source next to the armchair. Assembly was easy; it only took a minute or two from opening the box to plugging it in. The way the lampshade goes together is highly unusual; it comes flat, and the two ends meet with Velcro. It's unexpected but not bad; the shade can't get crushed in shipping due to this design.I love the look of the lamp and I will be purchasing the matching table lamps in the future. It's unique, has a great wooden look, and is sturdy. Some people mentioned that the seams where you assemble the pieces are visible. This is accurate, but they're not that noticeable and don't bother me. Since it doesn't come in one piece, these seams are inevitable, and you can see where they are in the product photos.Another thing is that the lampshade hangs slightly crooked. Again, it will be a matter of personal preference whether it bothers you or not. This was perfect for me because I use it partially as a reading lamp, so the angle was a bonus, but I could see how this would annoy others.Overall, this is a great lamp. As someone with a more rustic taste who hates the generic "modern" lamp styles found in stores, it is exactly what I was looking for. Some of the characteristics others did not like are my favorite things about the lamp. So, consider your personal tastes and look at the photos before you buy it. If you do that, there will be no surprises, and you will be happy with it.Edit: After owning it for a few months, the lampshade has straightened itself and no longer hangs crooked. Don't understand why, but there you go.

We bought a similar lamp from the same brand and this for our son’s nursery and it was perfect. Our daughter is due this December and I wanted her to also have a similar lamp, but this one was horrible. The first one we bought came with lamp shades already ready to go whereas you’re basically making this one with pieces from the box. The actual lamp stem that had to be put together wasn’t the big problem, but the base was. The washer and bolt provided was poor quality and would not at all tighten to keep all the pieces together. My husband worked on it for 2 hours to try and get it all the pieces to lock in together but even after using our own tools and having to rewire a bit of it because it was so cheap was a complete waste of time. I was impressed with our first lamp, a white one with two bucket shades, but this one was a definite no go.

Had this for a while now..While the end product looks nice-ish, it was a pain to put together. There was white flakes of some kind that got everywhere which didn't seem safe with having pets (or kids). It seems like no matter what I do, at least one of the parts of the pole is not screwed tight enough, especially at the base, so it's usually slanting. The only way to turn it on is with a button that is meant for the floor. Super obnoxious since my living room set up is having this behind the couch. If I want light, I have to get up and go behind to turn it on. Why not make one of the knots of the pole a switch??
