Nice sweat control. Hydrating.
This is a medium thickness lotion (white) that felt gentle on my skin when I first rubbed it in. It absorbed well and within a minute or so it had completely absorbed without leaving any residue. I thought this did a great job with everything that was promised; I felt like it hydrated my skin adequately and left my skin feeling soft and supple. I think it also did a great job controlling how sweaty my forehead gets (it's been hot and humid here so I don't look like I need a mop for my face after walking across a parking lot!). Although I do have oily skin, this did not seem to increase the amount of oiliness. No irritation noted. I plan to keep using, especially on days where I need to be outside a lot.

Did not fulfill purpose
I used this item in preparation for a wedding in Miami. Read reviews and applied product as instructed. I put it on my face, waited, then applied light makeup. Wedding was outside on the beach in shade, then cocktail hour was inside an hot building. Item did nothing to prevent sweat on face or wick away any moisture. I’ve used similar products before and I could feel they were working to dry up my face. I felt nothing from this product and it did nothing of its purpose, unfortunately. Will be returning and not suggesting this product to anyone.

Good for minor sweating. Not so much for dripping sweat.
Disappointed. As it does help for a bit maybe an hour of my day right after applying, I have a bad sweat problem due to medications and it seems to not dry out my face which I love but it also doesn’t help my constant sweating. I overpower it somehow! But if you sweat just a bit and want to wear under makeup I think it will help you as well as be almost soft on the skin. Doesn’t have much of a smell I’m using the orange bottle the original but yeah it does work for minor sweats but not for someone who is dripping and drenched in the shirt after doing anything other than sitting down! I’m impressed tho with how it doesn’t dry out the skin.

A long, incredibly detailed and totally honest opinion from a skincare junkie.
I am a 42yo die hard skincare junkie with sensitive combo skin.I am not only in love with skincare products (and the results they produce), but I am also VERY interested in the chemistry as well.⭐WHY DID I ORDER THIS?⭐I love ALL types of skincare, but I picked this up for a few different reasons.First, I've heard a ton about Carpe- what a great company they are, that they are based in the US and I have seen first hand how the hand cream helps a colleague of mine (which is amazing!). So I was thrilled when this face lotion popped up- exactly the product I was personally interested in. Why?Well, I am a bar consultant (just like the show Bar Rescue- just without all the yelling). Even though I consider myself a 'retired' bartender, I still have to jump back there (sometimes often) when it gets too busy or if the staff just can't cut it. When I was in my 20's and 30's, I wouldn't mind getting a bit sweaty but where I am now, the last thing I want my client to see is a consultant they hired with a sweaty face! I want this to look effortless- even though what I do (I typically deal with high volume establishments) is far from. Even if I'm not behind the bar, I'm doing 900 things at any given time.I also loathe looking back at vacation photos, the ones where we are all dressed nice for an evening out and I have a slick, sweaty, mirror looking face (I DO load up on SPF during the day, but typically forgo face makeup at night- to show off the healthy tan I did get).I can't say I wasn't a bit worried about this though. The reason I haven't been able to deal with these issues in the past is because I HATE anything with a heavy matte finish! I hate the feeling of it and the look of it. Typically, matte products are NOT for me, but I thought this might be different, so I had to gibe it a try!⭐ARRIVAL & PACKAGING⭐The product arrived unbelievably fast.At first I was a little taken aback by the size of the tube, which is small (and almost looks travel sized). When I looked at the oz however, I realized that this is a 1.35 Fl.oz tube, and that's actually pretty standard for a face cream. The tube is clean looking, simple, with instructions, ingredients, contact and distribution info.As far as safety goes, the crimp at the top pf the tube has a lot #/code imprinted. Then, there is a seal underneath the flip top lid that covers the product opening, thus preventing from spills, contamination or adulteration.⭐INGREDIENTS- LET'S DEEP DIVE INTO THE FORMULA⭐I spend A LOT of time researching ingredients and product formulations, studying how the ingredients work with one another. I do this part out of curiosity, partially for review purposes (my job is an educator) and because I want to know exactly what I am putting on/in my body. I am including the full ingredient list at the end of my review. The first thing I noticed about this formula is that it's quite short- YEA! This isn't loaded with all sorts of solvents, fillers or unnecessary junk. It's actually pretty targeted, with every ingredient serving some sort of purpose. There are quite a few skincare superstars on here like witch hazel, aloe, squalane, sodium hyaluronate (Hyaluronic acid), sunflower extract, rosemary extract, rice bran extract and good old Vitamin E. From a skin health perspective, this is an impressive group of ingredients, especially in a 'drying' lotion. A lot of people don't realize that if you strip the skin down too far of it's natural oils, it goes into overdrive and produces more than it would regularly. There is a delicate balance between drying and stripping, and this seems to provide enough hydration/moisture where the skin wont freak out. Another thing to remember is that oil attracts oil. People sometimes think it's counterproductive to put any oils on oily skin, but it's actually the opposite! Oil (in a product) will actually dissolve the oil on your face, thus canceling them out basically. Now, I'm not saying this is an oily formula (not by any means), but it DOES have some oils in it. There aren't a lot and what is there is REALLY good for your skin and will actually help, not hurt. So please don't ignore this thinking it will make your oily skin even worse- because it won't.Yes, yes...There are a few different types of alcohol in here too- both straight alcohol and denatured alcohol.Alcohol gets a bad rap most of the time (in skincare). It IS a great antimicrobal/antibacterial, which I think gets overlooked often. Now, if you just use straight alcohol on your face, that's when you are going to run into the trouble I wrote about above (oil production going into overdrive), but that's not the case here. These alcohol are in the formula to both help it dry down faster when it's applied to the skin AND because it helps with sweat! When used topically (in a formula like this- not on it's own), alcohol helps sweat evaporate quickly! We aren't just banking on the alcohol for sweat control though. Witch hazel, an astringent, can help with sweat. The big one that helps in here though is the Aluminum Starch Octenylsuccinate, which is an oil absorbing agent. It helps the formula spread well and gives it a soft, velvety texture on the skin. While some could have a mild reaction (ALWAYS do a skin test!), it does not penetrate the skin (so no aluminum is getting into your body) and is unlikely to cause systemic health problems. We also have Isododecane, which is used as a solvent and emollient, providing a lightweight, non-greasy feel while also helping to create a barrier against water and sweat. Even the Rice bran extract is known for its moisturizing, soothing, and cleansing properties, which can help maintain healthy skin and prevent the buildup of dirt, sweat, and excess oil. As you can see, there are several ingredients that serve more than one purpose in here! While there are a few others that can help with sweat and oil (Butylene Glycol for oil as well as citric acid), I wanted to touch on the main ingredients that are the most beneficial.I will finish this section up by pointing out that this has NO added fragrance and it is also free from sulfates and parabens.⭐THE PRODUCT DEETS & APPLICATION⭐As per the directions, you want to apply the formula to specific areas of concern like the forehead/T-zone, rather than slather it all over your face. I can attest to the fact that this can be used in combination with other products (makeup, skincare) and it layers very well.A squeeze from the tube produces a thin strip of product that is completely opaque and almost pure white (just not quite bright white). I thought it would be a bit thicker, so I was pleased when it came out a bit more on the liquid side. On my 'Thickness Scale' (1 being water and 10 being a rich body butter), I would say this is a 4.5. It will stay in place on a vertical surface (like your face) without dripping or running away, so it's easy to work with. It spreads super easy, without pulling or tugging on the skin and while it is being spread, it does not have that gritty, dry feeling to it- at all. It feels nice and cool, refreshing and even somewhat calming upon application too. Once this does dry down, which happens relatively quick, there is no powdery, chalky or gritty white residue left behind. While there is no added fragrance, this does have a very light scent, which is more than likely from the witch hazel.⭐HOW DOES IT FEEL?⭐Unlike the mattifying that I can't stand the feeling of, this does NOT make my skin feel dry, tight, dehydrated or chalky. It does not highlight the dry areas on my skin or make them drier (or flaky) either. This does give my skin a soft, velvety feel, one that's hydrated and healthy.I sometimes worry with products like this because we sweat for a reason, and I don't want to suppress a natural response from my body. I don't get that icky feeling with this, like I'm doing something that's unnatural. I don't feel like I'm wearing a mask and my skin just feels...healthy.⭐RESULTS⭐After researching the ingredients, I didn't doubt that this would work, but I didn't expect it to work as well as it does OR feel as nice as it does on my skin! This controls oil INCREDIBLY well! When I apply this under my makeup (I love how easy my makeup glides over this btw...it's so soft and blurred- basically flawless!), this keeps those terrible, greasy oil slicks from sprouting pretty much all day (with a single application). It also helps me for those family photos I mentioned above. I can put this over my freshly sun kissed face, without needing ANY other face makeup (I work HARD on my skin! When it's a little tan I love to show it off, so no makeup!) and I don't look like I forgot to wash my face after slathering myself with oil all day. My skin is clean, healthy, glowing, but not slick AND it's well hydrated at the same time! For those photos, this knocks out the sweat (from being in the warm climates) just as well. Now, I don't sweat a ton, but depending on where I am, I might need to dab my forehead here and there- not with this though! There is NO wetness. This also helps me a TON when I'm at work. If I'm a mad woman, running all over for a good 2-3 hours, this WILL keep me dry and my makeup in place, looking flawless. On the 10+ hour days where i'm going non-stop or if the AC is broken or if i'm in a warm location, I do need to reapply just a few little dabs to my forehead (by my hairline) and upper cheeks and bridge of my nose a few times throughout the day. I only need a small amount- like a few dots from the head of a q-tip. If I stay on top of application, I won't break a sweat at all. If I fall behind though, that same tiny amount will dry up any existing sweat/oil and still fight the shine and wetness.⭐FINAL THOUGHTS⭐I can absolutely attest to the fact that this WORKS for me.Again, I don't get super sweaty, but I do work...hard and this keeps me dry. It also helps A TON with my slick combo skin, really eliminating that terrible shine. Not only does it deliver on it's claims, but it also doesn't make my skin feel dry, dehydrated, yucky and I haven't experienced a single break out because of this. If you, like me, can't stand mattifying products, I urge you to try this because it isn't that dehydrated, drastic feeling where your skin is depleted of moisture and hydration all together, but it still lends the positive mattifying benefits. This is just...different.For less than $15, this really is an Ace, a major WIN and a must have product!A little of this goes a long way too, so you really end up with A LOT for your money here.I know Carpe has different formulas for different parts of the body, but I have not compared those formulas to this one though. I will say that this works fantastic for moisture control and chaffing on other parts of the body as well!⭐FULL INGREDIENT LIST⭐Water (Aqua), Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Water, Isododecane, Aluminum Starch Octenylsuccinate, Alcohol Denat., Butylene Glycol, Ethylhexyl Olivate, Alcohol, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Phenoxyethanol, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Hydrolyzed Jojoba Esters, Ethylhexylglycerin, Caprylyl Glycol, Aminomethyl Propanol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Hexylene Glycol, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Extract, Disodium EDTA, Squalane, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Tocopherol, t-Butyl Alcohol, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate♡ONE FINAL NOTE REGARDING MY REVIEW♡I realize that this is a long review- I can't help it though.I rely heavily on reviews before I decide to spend my hard earned coins, so I also like to include ALL details- big or small, good or bad- in my reviews that I would want to see myself. I also can't help myself because I LOVE skincare and want to share what I know with those who are willing to learn. I have very high standards (I'm a total quality snob/psycho) and I know how infuriating it is to read vague or rave reviews, purchase the product then find that it's trash. That literally lights a fire within me and I would never want to cause that in someone else. My goal is to give you every single detail you need to make your decision to purchase easier. If you do decide to purchase, you will know exactly what to expect- no surprises!Yes, I AM a Viner- a responsibility I take VERY serious. With that, I'm NOT indebted to anyone- person, seller or company- including Carpe. Yes, this review is positive, but ONLY because it earned all the praise it gets. I have no reason not to be 100% honest and I always tell it like it is- putting other consumers first. Something I'm NOT?- An influencer. I'm not trying to sell you something to make a profit or commission. I'm just a regular consumer here to share my brutally honest opinion with other information seeking consumers.

Seems to work great
I've been hearing about Carpe online all over for awhile and wondered what the hype was about. I saw this and though it isn't the deodorant decided to check it out. This is a Sweat Absorbing Face Lotion that supposedly contains a unique blend of sweat and oil absorbing ingredients making it ideal for people who struggle with facial sweat and want to achieve a silky matte finish on their skin. This formula also is supposed to contain hydrating ingredients to nourish your skin. What I really like is this can be used with or without makeup. As someone who doesn't wear makeup I still want something that would provide the same benefits or a silky finish without needing finishing sprays or powders while keeping my skin soft. I really like nanoblur and this reminds me of that but at a lower price, so when you consider that the price seems fair. I'm looking forward to seeing how this holds up under city heat and during vacation traveling and if it will still feel light on my skin or will it make my face feel weighed down.I will be back with updates as needed!
