Easy Persian Reader: Beginner to Low Intermediate Level: (Farsi-English Bi-Lingual Edition) (Persian Edition)

I bought a child's elementary level book for learning farsi letters, and this is the next level up for me. I can recognize the alphabet but only a dozen or so easy works like 'chai' and 'ab'. This book has good exercises that I am working through slowly (by sounding out the letter then guessing at the words/sentences) but the real gem is that in addition to the practice exercises the begging of the book is an amazing resource for letter, sounds, vowels, and numbers. It taught me all of the above. Grammar is still tricky if you're jumping into this without a working understanding like me, and the fact that all the exercises are completely in Farsi is intimidating (took me months after purchasing to even feel confident enough to try) BUT if you know the alphabet and read the resources in the beginning you can transcribe the words letter by letter and sound them out. It's hard finding farsi resources and this is one of the better ones I've found (along with a CD collection on amazon to help with speaking in addition to reading and writing). Also if you google there are a few well established websites with free resources for those wanting to learn this poetic and epic language. Highly recommend overall.

Very thorough and appropriate material. It does expect a level of familiarity with Farsi grammar that a beginner would not have, though. I look forward to the next level reader in an area where there are few published resources.

My kids can read but since we do not speak Parsi at home they cannot speak it very well. This book is a good helps them to have conversation with each other and at the same time practice more.

「リーダー」と銘打ってはいるが、何か面白い内容の文章を集めたものではなく、日常生活の様々な場面をテーマとする十二の非常に簡単な文章からできている。それは大体、「これは太郎です。太郎はアメリカで生まれました。太郎はニューヨークに住んでいます。…」というような感じの文章である。身も蓋もない言い方をするなら、「読解を学ぶ」というようなレベルのものではない。ただ、全部で十二ものテーマによって生活のいろいろな場面が幅広くカバーされているので、これを学習すれば、基本的な語彙を偏りなく習得すること ができる。　それぞれの文章には非常に簡単な練習問題（正誤問題、空所補充問題、並べ替え問題など）が添えられている。このリーダーで実際に学習した経験から言うと、そのような、言わば、他愛ない形式の練習問題であっても単語の記憶にはかなり有効であった。誰にとってもそうであるかどうかは分からないが、これは私にとって意外なことであった。

Repetition is key when learning something new. This book is soooo useful for beginners like me! I just miss an accompaniyng audio (there is phonetic transcription but it is not quite the same).
