Received in a box, well packaged with foam padding, containing the preamp, AC power adapter and a small informational paper insert. It has a screw-in ground terminal, which should ideally always be used with a turntable, stereo (R and L) RCA audio inputs and outputs, as well as a full size 1/4" audio jack output. It actually has an on/off button, along with a light indicator, as shown in the photos, even though the description (and Rufus) state it doesn't. The power adapter is rated 100-240V input (50-60Hz) and 12V output (0.5A), with a 3' cord. It works as a charm and is intended for the more common MM cartridge/stylus arm. I have an old Studio-Standard by Fisher turntable (Model MT-640) which I bought back in 1981 which still works great connected to my main stereo receiver, and presumably has a built-in preamp, though no visible phono/line switch. I am converting old vinyl 33 records to digital mp3 on my computer using an RCA to USB capture device. My home stereo system components are in cabinets with bunch of wires to several built-in ceiling speakers throughout the house. I took the turntable out to where my computer is and the problem I had was that the audio sound from my turntable was barely audible by itself without the receiver, even when connected to powered active speakers. Moving the receiver would have been more work to disconnect everything, plus the speakers' connections in the back are all push-in wires, via a dedicated speaker selector. This made it quite challenging when using the audacity software, as there wasn't much of a sound wave, and more of a flat line. I was guessing the built-in preamp in my turntable was dead and bought this box M1 as a cheap $14 trial, figuring I could always return it if it didn't work. Bingo! Problem solved. This thing is a keeper. Highly recommend and would purchase again. Thank you.

Great little preamp! Connected it up to my Sony receiver and Pioneer PL-512 turntable, and it worked beautifully! I recommend this to anyone looking for a reasonably priced preamp!
