What I needed

Birthday gift for my husband from his son. Since my husband was a tank mechanic in the military, my son thought it would be a nice gift. My husband is still piecing it together. Came as advertised. Can’t wait to see the finished product.

Build was fun for my son, who is a lego guru. His only complaint was the fit. The top was harder to secure to the bottom, hence 4 stars. It finally all came together and looks great. The top swivels which is a fun detail to add. Pretty comparable cost to other brick sets.

This "WW2 Army Tank M1A2 Main Battle Tank Brick Building Set, Including 2 Soldier Minifigures, 781 PCS" came packaged with all of the pieces in numbered plastic bags, all sealed in a large plastic bag, inside a nice branded cardboard box. The small sticker sheet was safely tucked inside a fairly nice instruction manual. Most of the building steps in the instructions were well illustrated, with only a few lacking clarity. I don't know why "WW2" is in the description for a tank that went into service in 1980.The set consists of two main builds, the chassis and the turret. Both of these builds started out really well, but the closer you get to completion the more frustrating it becomes due to poor design. Things like trying to attach pieces to unsupported plates bending, or pulling a wheel off to better support the fenders while assembling them only to find you have to remove the bottom plate to re-attach the wheel because it pushed the axle inside the chassis. Other pieces are just barely held on and fall off at the slightest pressure. I found that not having the treads on until the entire chassis was built helped. The turret was the same way, with the unsupported rear falling of easily, along with some other delicate components.Most of the pieces were well moulded, with fairly consistent stud clutch. One of the quality issues was how inconsistent the tan color was. There are very noticeable color variations in the light tan bricks, even within the same size/type of bricks.I found myself wanting to "just get this over with" near the end of the build, and that was with breaking the build up over three days. One of the least enjoyable builds I've experienced in a while. I was happy to find that there were no missing pieces. The track pieces are much better than other non-lego sets I have built, but don't function well on the tank due to the poor chassis design. The two included figures are very different from name brand ones, with odd design choices like ripping the arms off to put their harness on the torso. The doors on the turret are nearly impossible to open once closed all the way. The Sluban bricks seem like some of the better quality knock-offs, if they could just get their colors consistent and the overall designs more build/play friendly. Apparently I'm one of the few people that actually builds these sets before reviewing them.

I bought this for my husbands Lego collection and it took him about 2 hours to put together but the pieces were small and the instructions were simple enough I feel like a child could easily enjoy this build too

Bricks were 2 different shades of yellowish tan. Made it look cheap looking. Wasn't going to look anything like the pictures. Returned.

Awesome build kit. I bought this to put together with my teenage son and did not disappoint. The quality of the kit is comparable to brand you already know about. I think the instructions that came with this kit are decent for showing how to build the tank. They price of this item represents a good value and I'm happy with the choice.Easy 5 out of 5 stars!
