Just bought remington 2400w hair dryer, attached diffuser but now can't get it off! Frightened to pull too hard incase I break it.

My diffuser was quite stiff initially - there are a couple of small 'lugs' inside which keep it on the end of the dryer.

Hair dryer is 9months old - stopped working. I can't find info on how to replace it. It says the product is guaranteed for one year. Any advice pls?
