On Par/Better than Bose
I previously used the Bose Sleep Buds 2 for about 5 years and really liked them. Foam earplugs would hurt my ears after consecutive nights of use, but the Bose Sleep Buds were comfortable for side sleeping and stayed in place. Over time, though, the battery life started to fall short of 8 hours, and the tips wore out and would fall out during the night. I decided to try the Ozlo Sleep Buds and they are exactly what I was looking for. They fit just like the Bose ones, are comfortable for side sleepers, and don’t fall out. I actually prefer the Ozlo app to the Bose one because it stays connected and allows me to adjust the volume throughout the night (which I rarely need to do, but it’s a nice feature). I love the volume range, though I do miss the line the Bose had that helped indicate when the volume might be too loud to use frequently. The Ozlo battery life is on par with or better than other sleep buds of this size (about 10 hrs of play time), which seems to be the limitation of current technology. On weekends, I like to sleep in (sometimes over 10 hours), and when the sleep sounds cut out, it wakes me up. However, I’ve found that using foam earplugs on weekends when I can stay in bed longer works well. Though they tend to hurt by the second night, my ears get a rest during the workweek when I use the Ozlo buds. I also really like the alarm feature built into the Sleep Buds, which Bose also had and I was a fan of.I typically keep the volume around 47, and on a recent vacation with 19 other people, the higher volume really helped drown out their 4am shenanigans. I did try the Bluetooth feature one night (which the Bose Sleep Buds didn’t offer), but I wasn’t a fan, as it didn’t mask noise as effectively while also playing Bluetooth audio. I think the battery would drain faster if you used the Bluetooth capabilities instead of just the sleep sounds.I haven’t tried the biometric sensors that switch from Bluetooth to sleep sounds because I only use the Ozlo for sleep sounds. I usually wear the Sleep Buds under a Bluetooth sleep headband and play an audiobook (typically boring history) over the sleep sounds. This helps me block out external noise while giving my mind something to focus on to drift off to sleep.I was a little nervous because of some negative reviews, but honestly, everything has mixed reviews. The Bose Sleep Buds had a lot of bad reviews too, and they were eventually discontinued. These Ozlo Sleep Buds work great for my sleep habits, and I can’t imagine what I would do if they weren’t available when my Bose Sleep Buds finally gave out.

Worth $50, not $300
I find it relaxing to listen to audiobooks/podcasts while falling asleep. After using regular earbuds for this for years, I decided to splurge on myself and get a dedicated sleepbud-type product. I picked the Ozlo sleepbuds expecting a premium product experience for the $300 price point. The reality is they are a fussy, buggy product that is (to be fair) quite decent when it works and is awful when it doesn't. I would return these if I wasn't past the return window on Amazon. Here are more detailed pros/cons I have found after using them for 4 months:Pros:- The fit and comfort level is quite good. You can sleep on your side while they are in.- The battery life is good enough to get through a night of sleep on a charge.Cons:- They often don't connect properly to my phone, so I have to repeat specific steps to get them working. Put them both in the case, ensure they are seated properly, open the app, open the case lid, then wait for them to connect in the app before I can take them out and use them. Not a huge deal but again, its fussy.- The sleepbuds must be kept close to the case (like 10 feet), or they will disconnect, forcing you to potentially repeat all the connection steps above if they bug out. So you can't walk out of a room without the case unless you're willing to risk disconnecting them.- The case must be kept charged, in addition to the sleepbuds. If the case has no charge, then the sleepbuds don't work. Maybe that's obvious to some people, but it is an entire additional device & battery to manage.- The case design, while clever, has a very flimsy hinge. It's not the type of case you can throw in a backpack full of gear and expect to survive. I don't have any faith it would survive even a short drop. Given how critical the case is to the device operation, this is doubly concerning.- There are random and intermittent audio quality issues even when the devices are well-charge and located close; pops and audio sources cutting in/out briefly.- After ~3 months of use, my left sleepbud developed an issue where it plays at less than half the volume of the right sleepbud. I can't hear anything from it unless the volume on my phone is maxed out. Emailing tech support got me a list of basic troubleshooting steps which I followed but did not resolve the issue. They have failed to respond to my request for what next to try (3 days and counting...). [update 4/8: It took support 7 days to respond to my email. By this time I had reset the sleepbuds using the 'pinhole' reset button on the case and the left earbud audio was restored. Email support had never suggested this as a step to try, not sure why...I had to figure it out from reading other people's issues.]
