This is a great scan tool for the money! Out of the box, the scanner quickly recognized the vehicle and ran smoothly. Lots of great features for both the shade tree mechanic, as well as the expert mechanic. System is easy to understand and operate. The results are highly accurate and helped me to remediate an issue on a 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee, as well as a newer model Chevrolet Silverado. The screen size makes it easy to read and the background lighting is solid. Well worth the money spent and a tool that will continue to add value to my mechanics toolbox.

After owning the 7DS I decided to get a 5DS for its own compact size so I can keep it in the glove box and use it when needed.The D5S offers exceptional user compatibility. You can monitor the battery voltage which is in the top left side on the screen. With the support of more than 80 brands from across the globe, the interface is similar to D7S which is easy to navigate and it's user friendly. This D5S helped me to program the new battery for my Audi Q7. Build quality is very good. The device doesn't feel cheap. With 4 system diagnostics, 15 special tool for 5DS ( 9 for 5D), with lifetime free updates, life data and very affordable price, this unit is must to have for who like to keep they cars in good condition and do not want to go mechanics and pay them a big amount of money only for scanning their cars. Do not forget the amazing customer service. They are always there for you and will do everything to help you to resolve the problem.

Update: I’ve been able to use this scanner a bit now and it has impressed me quite a bit. The screen is clear and bright, touch controls are responsive and navigating menus is a breeze.Outside of Amazon sending me a used and returned unit it has performed flawlessly. It pulls up codes pretty quickly, though it takes a bit to scan through the different modules, and the live data is butter smooth and updates very quickly. This scanner easily rivals my old Snap-On scanner, the Solus Pro, which cost thousands of dollars when I bought it about 10 years ago.So why buy this scanner if I have a pro grade scanner? Pretty simple: rechargeable battery, smaller and more compact size, and free updates!Honestly, I’m very satisfied with this scanner. It’s updated twice in the past week and they haven’t cost me a dime. Good luck getting that kind of service with something like my Solus Pro. Those updates still cost hundreds of dollars.Another reason I like this scanner? Customer service. An XTOOL rep saw my initial review and reached out to me about it. We have gone back and forth a bit in the past week and they are going to try to make it right even though it was a failing on Amazons part. Where are you getting this kind of service anywhere else?As a former career mechanic, I highly recommend this scanner or any of their other scanners.You should also know that this scanner will recharge off of the vehicles OBD2 port while it’s plugged in, so you don’t have to worry about the battery dying as you’re diagnosing the vehicle or having an extra charging cable running to the scanner. That’s fantastic for viewing live data as someone else drives the vehicle.Initial review: I received a previously used scanner. It was registered to Herman, though he was probably not the Munster. I also have their WiFi network information and everything else they put into this scanner. I’m not sure why they returned it after using it on 2-28-25 on an Infiniti, but they did.While I am marking this review at 3 stars, I understand that it is unlikely an issue with the seller.I did delete the previous user and then updated the scanner, it took a while since it needed a system update and 41 module updates, but it went pretty quickly.You should know that in the “update” menu there is an update all button, but it is only labeled “updates”. I had started to update them individually before I pressed it, not knowing what it would do. Did you expect me to read the instructions?I’m not sure if I should return this or just complain to Amazon or the seller, see what they know about this, but I do need a scanner and so far this is pretty quick to navigate the different menus and should perform well.So far I haven’t used it, but I will at least give it a shot before I do anything else. It does seem well made.

Had a P0315 code on a chevy malibu this code can only be remove by this type of scan tool and high end scan tool great price for what I needed it for to remove code from system Shop visit will be more because it's a process that has to be followed correctly to remove this code in it does just that explaining also find faults that show up that's in the system that don't have a light associated with it that can be cleared great tool for the price can never have to many tools in my opinion this tool does alot not the basic scan tool well worth the money

​The scanner has lots of options and specific makes and models of vehicles for more detailed and accurate troubleshooting. The software is very fast, my previous scanner takes a long time to read the codes and clear the check engine light, this one is vert fast. I thought it actually wasn't clearing the code, because it is almost instant. DS5​​Scanner has special features, live data, and WIFI for updating the database. Screen is big and bright, easy to see in the sun. I had a cheaper smaller scanner, this one will replace that for more accurate diagnostics. Used on my Honda Ridgeline to clear the check engine light from the o2 sensor. Used on my Jeep Cherokee to read DTS code, and also used on my Lexus GS350 to find out which TPMS (tire pressure monitor sensor) was not working. Would highly recommend to save time and money on repairs.
