CAP Barbell 2-Inch Olympic Bumper Plate Weight Set | 100-370 lbs | Multiple Options

These are a recent purchase, so my review is based on what came out of the box. I read all of the reviews about smell and oil - so maybe I was overprepared, but I am really pleased with what I received for the price I paid.Were they oily? Yes, but there is also a valid reason for it - and it was very easy to clean off.Do they smell? Yes. I think the lower weight (10s and 15s) were the worst, but again, I expected that and it wasn't as bad as I had read.Are they precise? Probably not, but they are budget. I have not weighed them, but they feel balanced on my barbell, so I take no issue with the fact that there might be some variance.Were they in perfect condition? Almost. One of the 45s had a small dent the size of a finger tip (nothing I feel I need to return over). One of the 10s had a little bit sharper of an edge from the molding (skimmed with a blade and that was remedied). They look great, and the color coded lettering is a fun touch. They all fit properly on the barbell.Once out of the box and bag, I washed with Murphy's Oil Soap, set them outside for the day to air, washed again when they came in. The smell was greatly diminished. I did one more day of this and the smell was almost entirely gone. I have also read that sprinkling baking soda and letting it sit - or spraying/washing with a water/vinegar mix will also help.I have seen many reviews regarding the 10's and 15s being flimsy and breaking easy. They are a 1 inch thick rubber plate - at this price point, structural integrity is probably a mute point, and can be solved by not using them solo.Overall - as a starter set, I am extremely happy with what I received. If that changes over time, then I will update and edit.

Great price, great shipping, solid bumpers. They are oily and smelly at first, I just alcohol wiped, left in my balcony for 4 days or so. Now they are in my 2nd bedroom and they do not give off much smell.Worth it for the price.

Awesome product. Cheapest set of plates i could find on amazon but the quality was not sacraficed. CAP customer service responded to me super quick about the delay of my package so props to them. The only thing i disliked is that brand new out the box they came with a thin layer of oil and a smell to them. Wasn’t bad. I wiped them down and let them dry next to my basement window for a day and they were perfect. I see myself using these for years to come. CAP earned a new loyal customer. Thumbs up.

Theses weights handle easily, fit well and are quite. I’m glad that I purchased them and believe that they will hold up well overtime.I do have just one complaint: when opening the boxes they arrived in ( it smelled horribly of cigarette smoke) to the point that it made my gym stinky . I had to purchase an air freshener to get ride of the odor. After a few days the odor was gone.Please know that the quality of the weights is great , the factory they are made in needs to examine its packaging process.

Other customers are right a this set has a very pungent odor almost like an ashtray with a hint of oil. I opened the boxes outside. I cleaned them with Lysol spray, then simple green. They sat outside all night. The next day I washed them with Dawn dishwashing soap. The Dawn really cut the oil. I would suggest trying Dawn first. They are now inside and not smelling much at all. Was a pretty good work out lifting, carrying and hold all that weight while cleaning them.

They came in 4 separate boxes (I feel for the drivers, but I think that is the best CAP could have done). 3/4 of the package actually arrived a day earlier and I just waited for the last 45lb plate which is great. Not sure majority of the comments are experiencing smells or scratching sounds. I did not have any issues with sound when racking the weights on the bar. The smell can be tolerated, not sure why people expect anything different; it's no different than brand new car tires. The speckle with the lettering looks great and helps with ease of use. They are really easy to carry/grip especially for the ladies that use them here. Not too worried about the weights being scratch resistant, but the material will definitely show them if you really tried to. Lastly the price is out of this world, in the good way. I'm glad I waited for the price the drop, the quality is superb.
