So far so good. Ceiling mounting was relatively easy. Would be much easier with two people as it’s a little fiddly trying to line up the bracket with the screws as well as holding the reel. Aesthetically it looks good. I think an improvement would be to add a hook at the end so it could easily be looped up on to the reel to save it hanging down. Other than a Goodyear alternative there isn’t many of these on the market in the UK.

But I can't complain - this is a heavy-duty reel for workshop use. My use of it is admittedly odd - I have a shark vacuum cleaner and a shark steam mop, both with long cables, and no cable management. You have to manually wind the power cable around two hooks every time you finish using them. While the Shark devices themselves are excellent, the lack of cable management really sucks. So I bought this Brennenstuhl and two 'kettle lead' plug/socket sets. I fitted the kettle plug to the end of the Brennenstuhl, and the two kettle sockets to the vacuum cleaner and steam mop. (Yes! I cut their cables off!). The result is that I can pull the cable from this reel to anywhere in my house when cleaning, and when I'm done, automatically rewind them. For my use case, I would prefer something lighter, quieter and with lower spec electrical cable. This thing is a BEAST.

I really do like this product. I bought this one for about half the price as it was a 'reconditioned by Amazon' one and was sold as 'Like New' and I can't see anything wrong with it and no repair is obvious. This is the second one though as I had to return one because the casing had not been put back together properly and left a gaping hole. The screws are strange things so I couldn't correct it myself. I have marked it down a star because in the accompanying instruction booklet it says this model is for permanent outside use and is IP44 protected. However on the actual product label it says it is only IP20 despite having the correct model number on the label, and means it is not protected against rain. The booklet has the suffix DE after model number so I don't know if only the German product is IP44. This was disappointing as I'd put mounts for it at the front and the back of the house but I will have to store it in the garage. It is a very heavy item to keep lugging about but is still easier than using the reel-in type. Not really worth complaining about as the actual listing doesn't mention outside use.
