Most Excellent Tool
This is an amazing tool, very tough and should be long lasting. This file goes on a power tool that travels 3000 rpm this is not for final finishing or fine touches it is to remove metal and shape quickly. I am using mine on 6061 and 7075 aluminum sheet 1/8" and this is a gift from GOD it makes things so much easier you can actually remove material if you want in about 15 minutes, up to 1/8, this can not be done by hand. Working by hand its takes many hours just to remove 1/16". I have not used this on wood but I can imagine that you would need to work carefully as it would cut into the wood more quickly than expected but would get your work do very quickly once you learn how to use it, as a metal file this is fantastic and a huge time and back pain saver. The details: the file floats in its mount rotationally about 1/8" to side to side, this allows it to float to conform to the angle of what you are filing, if you want to change the shape what you are filing you will need to rotate the tool very deliberately to put the file on its edge, this is correct this is how it should work. Linearly the file can move left or right about 1/2" in its mount including the flex of the mount but this flex is not noticed when filing and is not a problem. The mount tool itself looks just like the images on Amazon but is larger than it appears, the top part is 1" in diameter not 1/2" as it appeared to me looking at the images on Amazon.

Can be difficult to control, but beats a hand-file for certain jobs!
I needed to expand a door handle opening in a metal door, and was dreading trying to do it with a dremel tool and/or a hand file. My Dad suggested I purchase one of these and give it a try. I bought this attachment and the RCT-10 Saw Adapter, and went to down on the opening. After about 5 minutes of careful filing, the hole was just the right size for a new, larger handle. If you don't have a *very* firm grip on your reciprocating saw, you'll probably find it wandering off. Also, make sure you file at angles and with pressure so the file doesn't hit the thing you're working on and put a nice dent or scratch in it if it gets out of control (I learned this the hard way, and had to do a little touch-up painting! It's not the best file I've used (a good hand file will do wonders, and allows great precision), but it works well enough, and makes a difficult job much easier.

Works great!
Works great! Great idea! I needed something like this... wondered if it existed... searched on the internet and IT DOES! I use it with the file mount for dressing lawn mower blades on my Skag zero turn commercial unit and my DR walk behind Brush mower. These machines cut everything and require frequent dressing of the blade which this makes quick work of!

Such a great adapter and so few tools available to expand it's flexibility
Although a grinder can do many of the tasks that might be done with the adapter, I know of no grinder wheel that has such an edge that can be safely used to make deeper channels with out grabbing the sides of any trough the grinder might be used to cut into. The deeper the edge goes the more unsafe the grinder becomes. I have both files, the one being a 1/2 round and the other being a narrow full round, if there are no others (?) this places a lot of limitations on such a great adaptive accessory. More choices in width and face aggressiveness and file shape of various sizes (widths) , surfaces of Flat, 1/2 rounds, and full rounds could really do the trick. I know I would probably purchase them all. The short stroke of even one of the longest stroke recip saws, (Mine a Milwaukee) could fly thru steel as fast or faster than a 60 grit grinder and SAFER. Back to the question..The adapter is GREAT! "Sir may I have another (tool)? "

Meh
It's a nice idea, but terrible in practice for steel with any thickness. Any real pressure chips off and rounds over teeth, and just letting the weight of the sawzall do the work is slower than filing by hand. It's probably fine for wood and aluminum, but they're easy enough to work by hand anyway.

Makes short work of an otherwise tedious job
Only used it once so far but took me 30 seconds to enlarge the dead bolt opening of a thick, commercial door striker that was made of some hard steel. Would have taken me 20 minutes with a hand file. Not sure how long it will last, but for my occasional use it does the trick. Was worried when description said that the file could rotate, thinking that would make it hard to use if it moved while in use, but no worries with that as it locks in any of six positions and stays put. Note that you also have to buy the A10 adapter to use this with a reciprocating saw. Mine is a Ryobi and everything fit together perfectly.

It does what it was described on the product details
It dies the job. However, you cannot apply more pressure uniformly distributed across rhe file. Not the fault of the product but overall approach of using a file in Sawzall. I was trying to remove seam weld from a square pope. Not appropriate for this job. An air powered narrow belt sander did a much better job. For some other applicatiins it may do quite well.

Great file
I wanted a smaller bastard file in my tool bag for reaming large conduit, chose this because of the 1/4" quick connect. I attach it to a screwdriver handle for a comfortable functional tool that doesn't take up much space in my bag at all. The file is relatively course, so it's not going to make a fine edge if you intend to use it for sharpening things, but just right for right shaping.
