We purchased these to replace our second filter because it failed miserably, the mesh separated from the plastic frame. These are doing great and show no signs of ripping or even wear. Since we have 2, I rotate between them, put one in the dishwasher (top shelf) and use the other. My wife and I have noticed no strange flavors from plastic or metal. (She is super sensitive to flavors, she tells me, "This doesn't taste right..." and when I try it then I realize she's right.) Hope you have the same results.

I probably get around a year worth of usage out of each filter. Never have a problem with the filters backing up. Don't waste your money on disposable filters, just get these.
