Very effective without irritation
I bought this toothpaste because I want to support a hospitable “launch pad” environment inside my mouth so the naturally occurring “helpful bacteria” vastly outnumber the “harmful bacteria” that together populate my gut making up the microbiome. Our microbiome is unique to us as individuals and has been found to play an important role in decreasing widespread inflammation in the body. The gut bacteria execute essential immune system responses to perceived pathogens ensuring sustained good health by keeping us free from illness and disease. I also would like to believe in the potential remineralization of tooth enamel and I read a review where someone claimed to have had a cavity confirmed by dental x-ray that was completely undetectable 6 months later reportedly due to the “remineralizing properties” of this product! Last but not least: The flavor!! Whoa! Salty! It takes some getting used to and, honestly, I feel like the zesty burning sensation caused by the essential oils in the products is actually becoming more intense after brushing with it for ~ 2 months? Finally, my gums used to constantly feel irritated like they were scrapped up from brushing but they don’t feel that way anymore. I also started using a mouth wash that is 20% aloe Vera that is also helping to calm my gums. Overall, after switching to a child’s level soft toothbrush aka “super soft”, swapping out my old toothpaste for this product and replacing my mouthwash I have to admit my mouth feels a lot better!! Noticeably less gum irritation and cleaner teeth with less plaque/stains. I highly recommend that people try this toothpaste if your health goals include increased use of natural products in your self-care routine and decrease in potentially harmful chemicals, formulated to kill all oral bacteria indiscriminately, coming in contact with your mucus membranes. This product seems like a solid tool in supporting the balance of good bacteria in the body who’s effect on our overall health. we are only beginning to understand. Be prepared to experience a new taste and texture: salty, gritty, and strongly minty but as long as you don’t expect a fake sweet sugar taste and take give yourself time to acclimate to the essential oils then I expect you’ll also have a good experience. The container lasts a long time! Also, I recommend taking a moment to educate yourself re the warning related to lead content in this product: Lead is a natural component of the clay ingredient but it is NOT a type of lead that is “bio available” aka not absorbable by our bodies so there is no risk of harm from lead ingestion. CA law requires warning of the presence of lead to be clearly visible on product label all the same. Now go brush yo teeth!

this is the best toothpaste I have ever used
I've been using natural fluoride free toothpastes for years now, but upon reading about glycerin and the inability for enamel to remineralize I began searching for glycerin free toothpastes as well. Whether it is true or not, this is the best toothpaste I have ever used. I've seen a big improvement in the translucency of my front teeth which had been worrying me over the years. I have also experienced a complete disappearance of the sensitivity I was having in a couple of my teeth that would come and go spontaneously. For years (no exaggeration) not one dentist could identify anything wrong; no cavities, no nothing. My teeth and overall mouth has never felt so clean and so fresh; no sweet aftertaste, no gunky residue, just pure minty freshness and cleanliness. I must note that I also brush with a sonicare toothbrush and I must say there is no going back, I've tried. The two paired together is a game changer for oral hygiene and care. A note about taste: When making the switch from regular old toothpastes or natural xylitol ones, this will taste VERY salty and very minty. But after a few brushes this will pass, it's all a matter of getting used to the new taste. One night I decided to brush with my old xylitol toothpaste and could NOT!!! It was cringe worthy sweet!! I also use the mouthwash in the mornings and that one is much saltier and EXTREMELY minty and can burn but it will leave your mouth feeling, tasting, and smelling AMAZING. A note about longevity: I have been using this toothpaste since September 2016 and have gone through 2 jars so far. Approx 4 months a jar which I believe is a good deal.

Affordable alternative to fluoride pastes with greater potential benefits and a very clean feeling
I have never used a toothpaste like this. I have grown up with Crest, Colgate, Sensodyne, and the like, so this was a big gamble for me. My teeth have suffered from an extended period of braces as a child, without being provided the proper information by my orthodontist at the time, so my current dentist has recently suggested something different. I have been on prescription fluoride toothpaste, but my dentist told me about Theodent at the end of last year, which led me to some research on alternative toothpastes and remineralization, and ultimately to this. For me, it's not so much about the chemicals and organic nature; it's more about something that might help my teeth repair themselves. From a flavour point, this is definitely different. I typically rinse with salt water once or twice a week, so the saltiness isn't a deal breaker for me, but it is an initial shock to the taste buds. That wears off pretty quickly, however, and by the second time I brushed my teeth with this, I was already accustomed to it. The peppermint oil is a bit strong at first, but you get used to that, too, rather quickly, and it leaves a nice fresh feeling in your mouth after brushing. The feeling of brushing is different as well. Since there is no foaming agent in this, your saliva mixes with it and creates a very liquid mixture in your mouth. It almost feels like you're brushing with spit and water, save for the peppermint and salt taste. After, however, my teeth feel like I just had them polished at the dentist. They definitely feel different than brushing with a typical gel or paste toothpaste, and I like it. I can't comment on how long this lasts, yet, but I just dip the bristles of my brush in until there is a little bit on each one. I don't shave it, scoop it, or cut clumps out. The packaging says the composition of the toothpaste makes it extremely antiseptic, so I am trusting that. I will update in a couple months, however, to provide feedback on how long it is lasting. I also can't comment on the remineralization aspect of this yet, but that is another thing I will be updating about. At the present time, I have soft spots in my enamel, and decalcification in several spots where my braces brackets were located when I was younger, so I am hoping this has an affect on that. With the cost and potential benefits of this over what I have been using, I plan on using it at least until I visit the dentist for my next checkup, so I have some basis to compare the results to. I just had my semi-annual cleaning a couple weeks ago, shortly before purchasing this, so it should give me a good comparison to work with. UPDATE: Regarding how long it lasts, I just ran out last week. I have been brushing twice a day, and have been the primary user, with only 2 or 3 small brushings being someone else testing the paste. Otherwise it's all been me. Based on this, it seems to last just shy of 2 months with a typical brushing schedule.

Whitens teeth, and helps gums!
I decided to try this toothpaste because my teeth were becoming translucent, and I was really embarrassed by how they looked. I was also starting to have some gum issues and wanted something that might help reduce them. I chose this toothpaste after reading the good reviews, and I’m so glad I did. It’s definitely not like regular toothpaste—it has a distinct flavor—but my teeth are actually whiter now than when I used whitening strips! My gums are healing; they’re not completely back to where they were, but the recession has definitely stopped. My teeth also look much more opaque. You only need a pea-sized amount to brush your teeth, and for one person, the jar lasts about 1–2 months. It is a bit on the expensive side, but I think it’s money well spent because you’ll see the difference in your teeth almost immediately. I also really appreciate that the ingredients are natural. Finally, I used to have sensitivity to very hot or cold foods and drinks. After using this toothpaste for three months, that sensitivity is completely gone!

which in retrospect was a really good thing, because I don't know if I would've ...
So I ordered this first and read the reviews after, which in retrospect was a really good thing, because I don't know if I would've still ordered it had I read all the opinions on this product. I had been reading up on the bad stuff in toothpaste for a long while, so I told myself that when I finish the tube of paste I had been currently using I'll get something better. Well I finished that tube about a month ago, and after realizing that I had pretty much squeezed every last drop that I could get out of it, I had no choice but to look into something that was healthier for my teeth. This product came highly recommended by one of the blogs I was reading as I was looking into alternative toothpastes. In my excitement to have found something that looked like it was everything healthy, I quickly ordered it, and only after a day or two did I go back to read the reviews, and then started getting anxious that I had made a mistake by ordering this product too hastily with everyone's complaints about the taste. But at that point it was too late, because the product had already shipped and I didn't have any toothpaste left. Well thankfully I've been using it for a month and I have to wonder what everyone's problem is with the taste. Like seriously, I don't know how much you guys put on your brush, but I have an electric toothbrush and all I do is just lightly pat it on the toothpaste and then brush. I make sure it's lightly coated, and that's really all I need to brush my teeth. Yes, the taste is salty, and it does take a little getting used to, but now, after a month of using it, I don't think I could ever go back to the sweet-tasting toothpaste I had been using until I switched. The first time I used it I looked at my teeth and thought "wow, they look so white!" which says something to me, because I never noticed my teeth being white until I started using this toothpaste. I think the salt acts like a light abrasive which gets the teeth much cleaner. The essential oils do burn a little, and there were a few times when my gums were stinging a bit. But I'm used to it now and it only bothers me if I get it on my lips, which doesn't happen so often, and even then it's not something I can't handle, especially since I'm gonna be washing it off in a minute anyways. I absolutely live this product, tbh, and am so happy to have found it! My teeth look and feel healthier, and this jar will last me a very long time, especially since I only use a tiny bit when brushing. As an aside, after about a month of using this product (and brushing with it 2x a day), one day last week I thought about how I still have a bottle of the ACT mouthwash that I never use and maybe I should get back into the habit of using. So after flossing and brushing, I rinsed with the ACT mouthwash, and aside for the taste being too sweet (and mine was the mint flavor too) I felt like it kind of just coated my teeth with blue #40 and it didn't leave the fresh after taste in my mouth the way it used to. I really regretted using it, because brushing with this toothpaste left my mouth feeling clean and fresh, while using the ACT mouthwash left me feeling like my mouth wasn't happy that I used it. After doing a little research, I found that most mouthwashes are pretty ineffective as it is, and that a lot of them upset the balance of flora in the mouth. So not gonna be using any of that again any time soon.

Ended My Mouth Pain
If you are looking through reviews to try to determine if you should try this product, read my story. A year ago, (Nov '17) I had a tooth abscess during Thanksgiving Dinner. The pain was tremendous to say the least. The hospital ER was quiet and they drugged me up good to withstand the weekend before I could see the dentist. (Sidenote: Black Friday shopping was extra fun. I'm a 37 year old woman, I bought a mermaid cozy, 3 pillows, an XBOX 1, 5 games, a TV, and I don't remember what else. The cart was heaping. My husband may have aided and abetted me in order to get what he wanted too....anyway) Fast forward a few weeks and I have a stainless steel crown because that's all my insurance would cover and it is NONSTOP getting infected. It hurts to chew, I can only chew on one side of my mouth. I develop gingivitis, constant mouth pain, when I lay down at night I can feel my heart beating in my teeth. The dentist kept seeing me back and putting me on antibiotics but the only solution they could offer me long-term was to pay $1000 to have a porcelain crown built. I have been saving up to do so but also very reluctant because the dentist hurts! And they were talking about how I had all these other cavities too...bish, please. I have never ever had a cavity in my life until this random abscess. Now I have 8? Crazy talk. So I read about re-mineralization. And I think, ok. I want to try this for a few months before I go in to have this crown put on. I've been using this toothpaste for a week. First of all, what the other reviewers say about the taste is CORRECT. It is strong, salty, and it makes my mouth burn a bit. Don't take more than a pea-sized amount on your toothbrush. Swish it around a lot before you spit. After only one week my mouth pain is gone. I can chew on both sides, I have no gingivitis, no heartbeat in my teeth, and bonus...my teeth are getting whiter every day. Now, I've always had strong enamel. I don't drink soda more than twice a year at parties, or eat a lot of sweets. So I probably have faster results than someone else would. And yeah I still gag when I brush with it sometimes but I don't care. I would brush my teeth with actual poop if I didn't have to have another cavity filled ever. Once was enough that was straight up torture. This stuff works. And it doesn't taste like poop, so bonus. Oh and one other thing, my daughter has insanely sensitive teeth which cause her daily pain to eat (she is also a no-go on soda/candy and always has been, it's just genetic) And after 3 days of using the toothpaste, the drops, and the mouthwash she is seeing a 100% improvement and was able to eat ice cream the other day. We are committed to using this product long-term. My opinion is that it is SAFE, it WORKS, and it is WORTH EVERY PENNY.

WARNING : MULTIPLE potentially dangerous ingredients. Steer clear.
Let's say the lead in this product is bonded and safe. Let's also say the clay is sourced from somewhere free of pesticides and other contaminants and therefore fine. Even if that is true, MULTIPLE ingredients in this are unsafe. Accidentally swallowing, ingesting, aspirating, or even just letting this stuff touch your gums can be dangerous. You know how hard candy melts in your mouth? This goop can easily be accidentally swallowed in small amounts, and many of these ingredients only NEED a small amount to cause harm. Colloidal Silver Water, better known for its associations with $cams (ingested it can cause some issues like turning your skin blue-gray. Look out for blue gums!), as well as multiple essential oils - these things cannot go in your mouth with any guarantee of safety. Multiple oils listed are known for causing side effects such as seizures, headaches, nausea, as well as interfering with how your body handles certain medications. If you, for example, got work done on your teeth and are on antibiotics, this goop can make your body resist them, leaving bacteria free to wreak havoc. Anyone who claims this goop- and especially essential oils - are safe because they're natural and plant-based has clearly never heard of poison ivy, a plant whose oils cause pain and itching. If you accidentally swallow or ingest any of this goop expect to have a bad day. This company was sued for failing to use the prop 65 warning for lead and honestly that deters my faith in them even selecting the less dangerous varieties of lead, clay, peppermint, and mustard seed. The key to remineralization is keeping your teeth CLEAN - brush twice daily, floss at least once (flossing is no joke) and take a swish with listerene, salt in tap water, or even the occasional heavily-diluted hydrogen peroxide (and then rinse with water twice!!!). This stuff has way too many risks and is keying in on a market of people who is trying desperately to avoid cavities, crowns, and abscesses. That's how they got me, too. Save your money and avoid this company's offerings. They haven't earned your trust or your money.

A little dribbley, but pretty good overall
This is a pretty good alternative toothpaste. It appears to be made of some kind of clay, with sea salt added, and probably a few other things (check the ingredients of course). The teeth and mouth feel clean after brushing, and the flavor is not bad. However, it tends to get watery and start to dribble out of my mouth as I brush. Also, this does not contain fluoride (if that is something that you care about). I think I will try something else next--I'm having a little fun testing alternatives to mainstream toothpastes.
