Thumbs up
Excellent book. Covers what it said it would. Very helpful, just didn't enjoy the amount of time spent on the farm case examples, but maybe I am being to picky

Highly recommend this book
Great book for the business. This one I definitely recommend. Not all books on the subject are useful, this one is.

This is a great book. I have taken Ag business
This is a great book. I have taken Ag business, economics, and marketing in college and this book took all three semester length classes and simplified it like I couldn't imagine. Very well organized and extremely educational. It is a great book whether you have experience or none with business. You can take the principles and apply them to any industry, not just agriculture.

Too generic, mostly motivational
This book comes from an interesting perspective. She clearly runs a very large, high-income farm of her own that does wholesale, so she has a lot of experience of farm business on a big scale (not a megafarm, but not a small farmer by ANY standard). However, she writes as if she believed her production small, and offers advice to similarly small farmers... which seems a disconnect from the farmer who just wants to bring some garden produce and eggs to market, and not get in trouble over the business tax side of things.Unfortunately, while all of her suggestions point to the right steps one has to take to legally run a business, the author really gives very little concrete information. I can understand avoiding state-specific details, but she could touch on Schedule F taxes, how to set up proper farm receipts and keep track of cash income and expenditures, etc. The name and description imply that she will explain the key parts of running a small business. In reality, she gives a brief and distant overview of how to secure financing and wholesale customers if you want to run a large farm with your family.

Clear and Concise; Great Appendices
As an aspiring farmer, this book has helped me wrap my mind around the process behind small-farming enterprises. The appendices were especially helpful. Recommend to people with very little to zero experience in business or agriculture who are looking to break into the market.
