XA2 to 10 VI
Got an 'As New' from Amazon Resale for about £110 less then the price of a new one and it was exactly as described in its box so very good value.Upgraded from an Xperia XA2 which is one of Sony's finest phones so this has a lot to live up to. Only upgraded due to the "will it/won't it" confusion over its 4G Calling support.Onto the 10 VI, so far, so good. Going from Android 9 to Android 14 was a bit of a culture shock but Sony's UI is reasonably clear of clutter.Shame Sony didn't port their Album app over to the newer OS (Google's Photos app is the nearest I've found - Gallery is a car crash!) but at least their Music app did. After a prolonged series of 'update is available' sessions, the phone has now updated to Android 15 and all is well. The phone seems quick to respond, hasn't glitched out or seized up and, apart from trying to remember some long forgotten passwords, the transfer from the old faithful has been smooth. In summary, it's a very good phone - just big enough without rivalling my old Nexus 7 tablet, unlike some of its competitors, so it fits in my pocket easily. All the apps are quick to launch and the screen is large and responsive

Sony phone
Great Sony phone for the price. Very slim and tall. Build quality is good with plenty of features to customise.

Quality
Love so far. Gave it it a four for now. I love Sony that's why I bought it. I will report any default though.

So far so good
I purchased this in a black Friday deal as it was good value for money because my previous Sony Xperia 5 iii stopped working after they shut down the 3G network. The shape and size is very similar to that of Xperia five however the functionality is not as good. I mis having a dedicated photo button and I liked having the Google search button also. The picture qualities what would be expected for this price level phone. I find that the battery life is good, nowhere near the two days advertised. But it does last of all day without needing to be charged. I've had no issue with lag, no speed problems when opening the apps and I didn't really expect any as Sony generally makes decent quality phones. I think that if you want a good quality phone that allows you to use all of the apps associate with the Google Android phone then this is fine .only thing I didn't like was how heavily it's used some of the Google apps and I opted to use alternatives which didn't have a pay premium for advanced functions.

Disappointing display and battery life.
I stepped up from an old Motorola G7 which was pretty basic but did what I needed. I wanted a better phone so was paying more. It does feel better in your hand, and is responsive. However, I feel let down by the display. It simply cannot display plain white. There is always a noticable rainbow effect across the screen. One end is pinkish white and the other is greenish white. You can put it in dark mode and it does help, but some websites have a plain white background and the colour tinting is very off putting.Secondly, my old Motorola battery was fading in performance. I was expecting something better, but no, it is about the same. It is no where near as good as the G7 when it was new. Maybe I can improve it by tweaking settings - everything seems to want to run in the background. And finally, I was offended by the inclusion of the Facebook and LinkedIn apps. These are a permanent feature of the Sony Android build. You can disable them so you do not see them, but they are still there. I hate this. They are two of the worst data abusing companies out there and I do not want their software on my phone. Sony could have easily given you a plain Android, and you could go get Facebook or LinkedIn from the App Store if you wanted. This for me was the final straw - never another Sony phone. One redeming point is the phone is quite good for music. It has a 3.5mm socket and AptX HD, and Sony do give you a music app, which is nice because they took it out of stock Android.Edit: dropped to one star because Sony force you to update and then things stop working or need setting up again. Worst experience ever!

Not up to Par
I understand it’s a mid range device, but it was too slow for me and had a few technical issues that were irritating

Abysmal camera. Blurry pictures.
Don't buy this if you want a camera phone. The battery is fantastic and I like the form factor, but Sony have delivered a turkey when it comes to the camera on this device. It's dire. In spite of sensor size, it's considerably worse than something like the Pixel 4a. Dynamic range is abysmal and it takes pictures like it has slow shutter speed, so if your subject moves an inch, your picture will be blurry.I delete 80% of pictures because of blur and the 20% that remain are not particularly crisp or well lit. Sony! What a let down!I'm considering returning it.
