A Joy to Own
Very much for fans of high quality woodworking to be honest. Now, I really love the hobby of woodworking and of course the Americans seem to have taken this subject to heart with high quality productions bordering on the obsessive - which this is, in all fairness.Written and illustrated very much in the way of Fine Woodworking (and fans of that publication and website will understand) you feel as if you have a real bit of quality in your hands. The photographs are beautiful and the subject items interesting and informative. The writing is clear and will help anyone create their own workshop masterpiece - with enough time and effort.Of course this being an American production you have to accept that measurements are in imperial (US standard) and the wood stock and tools based around what is available in the US. That does not in any way detract from the interest and the joy of reading this book if you like to spend time in your shed or once in a while dreaming away at creating your ideal workshop. It's also well enough made to count as the sort of book that would happily grace the coffee table as a thing of occasional interest for the less enthusiastic among us.Simple put a great book.

The Workbench: A complete guide to creating your perfect bench
I love this book even though I found the inspiration for my own perfect workbench elsewhere. It is full of sumptuous photographs and diagrams of different and fascinating workshops, workbenches and storage with detailed discussion on every aspect. In case you haven't guessed from the front cover photo it is almost entirely woodwork centered. The one type of bench it doesn't mention is the "German workbench" documented by Roubo and it is this that I drew inspiration from for my own bench. You will find a wonderful blog about this by googling "Khalaf Oud Luthiery bench".

Workbench Book
I bought two books on designing and constructing workbench's. This was a good book, but the Christopher Schwarz book just had the edge.

Great inspiration
Bought for my husband who enjoys fine woodworking. He is currently making his 'dream bench' so I thought this would give him some inspiration. It's a very beautiful book and he's already dipped into it a few times.

Not what I expected
I expected a lot more from this book than I got.I'm about to build my own bench and I was looking for a guide to what to do - and more importantly what NOT to do.The book is ok, but nowhere near what you get in the book by Christopher Schwartz.Buy that instead. I did.
