It took me 20+ years to go through my jumbo jug of nutmeg, and all I could remember of it in recent years is being grit. I figured I should get a smaller size next time around... Sure, there are cheaper options than Simply Organic's, but this one spoke to me and I'm glad I listened.First of all, the packaging is exceptionally practical and minimalistic, being a thin cardboard sleeve that folds in at the ends for insulated protection against impacts. No taping required. I knew as soon as I saw that, this is a good brand. The metal cap screws on nice and tight, and should provide a better freshness seal than typical plastic flip-open tops (especially when they start caking up and don't close well). The plastic snap-in piece below it has very generously sized shaker holes, so there's no need for dual flip-open sides for shaking and pouring. Finally, the flavor blew me away! I had long forgotten -- if I ever knew -- that nutmeg could be so richly flavored. A small sprinkle of this Simply Organic Nutmeg runs circles around a big clump of the old stuff.

I have been on a quest to select a really great source of quality cinnamon. I ordered Ceylon, Vietnamese, and some unknown source brands, of which this was one. This was absolutely delightful smelling cinnamon, and I would buy it without hesitation at my local store. I am basing that entirely on the smell as it is unlikely I will get beyond the following amusing little cinnamon activity: When you empty the entire jar into a paper sack, or even a big paper envelope if you have one handy (like if something happened to come in one), you will be delighted by the aroma - really first class. The smell brings to mind exotic places, holiday baking, all sorts of great stuff. But what if you could experience these things without ever having touched the jar, much less opened it? Of course, you would want to make sure not to have anything else in the container or the cinnamon will tend to get all over any such items and could ruin them. It would certainly be difficult to clean up. And you also have to be careful not to break the glass bottle, or you could end up with small pieces of glass in your bag making the cinnamon difficult to use and enjoy. Imagine finding a sack like that near the entrance to your abode and opening it to discover such a delightful smelling situation. That would be surprising, and you might even be so taken aback that you would begin to bleed a little. Not to mention the frustration if you were looking forward to doing some baking, but could not do it in your present situation. I'm glad you folks are smart, and able to see the point of my meandering, because sometimes to be heard, or even to be allowed to speak, you have to put a little extra work into what you really want to convey. So I'll just close by saying this is a good product, provided you are a careful shopper. I hope this helps you avoid something that happened to me one time. And I hope you are all fixing something delightful flavored with cinnamon to share with friends and family - just not with MY lovely and somewhat unusually situated new cinnamon. Get your own bottle - somewhere. Take care.
