I’ve been looking for a car mount to safely hold my phone while using maps for directions that would be low-profile, could sit horizontally on the dash, and was easy on/off for my phone. Pros: • Adhesion seems good so far. I have a wide, flat horizontal space on my dash in front of one of the screens where it sits perfectly - can’t comment on how it sticks to a textured or curved dash. I applied it in winter but waited until the afternoon so it wasn’t freezing cold - we’ll see how it does in summer, but so far so good. • Perfect amount of “stick” to the magnet. My iPhone X is held securely with no wobbling but can also be pulled off easily if needed. I put the magnet sticker on the back of my phone case, below my phone holder, and it works great. I like not fumbling with clamping it in, like other mounts. • If you place the sticker in the center of the phone, you could pop the phone on either vertically or horizontally • Locking ring means I can twist it tight and it will stay in position without coming loose, rattling around, or starting to droop while driving. Cons: • Would have been nice if it folded away or popped off the mount for storage when not using it; I guess I could have gotten the suction version but they’re notorious for not sticking well. • Of course, only phones with the magnetic sticker on them can use it; not great for road trips with multiple drivers using their own phones to navigate or listen to music. Would have been nice if they included extra magnet stickers so multiple people in the household could add it to their phones, or to use if you get a new phone/case. Overall a low-profile, secure mount that’s easy on-and-off so I can read directions safely.

I ordered 2 mounts but only one arrived. I should have sent it back but took a 50% refund instead, ordered another set and got 2 this time. So I have 3, needed 2. I'll put one in the other car for the passenger. I did another review but It's not here. Maybe they deleted it because I got the refund? They include something called a magic plate that goes between the sticky metal plate and your phone to make it easier to remove the plate if you want to. Wife has a Samsung S22 and that magic plate wouldn't stick to it. 3M Blue masking tape wouldn't stick to it either. It must have some kind of coating. The wife didn't want it stuck directly to the phone so it's held in place by the protective case. It seems to work okay. I have a different unit in my car with a metal plate and it stays in place with just the case holding it there. The car mount was easier. I cleaned up 2 areas on the dash of our 1999 Sienna. I cleaned them with a cleaning tissue for glasses, put one on the driver's left above the A/C vent and the other just below the rear window defrost button. It seems pretty strong so we'll see. I'll update here if there's a change. My phone is a Samsung S8. I added a second metal plate to mine but they slide around, so I peeled off the paper from this holder's plate and put it on the back of the phone and it stuck. I put the other one from the different mount below that one and used the 3M Blue masking tape to see if it stays in place. I put the Otterbox case back on. This seems like a good system. It is certainly designed like what I had in mind. The one in my car mounts in the A/C vent. It's good but once mounted you cannot control the vent. I had to set the vent the way that's most convenient then put the vent mount on and there it stays. With this mount it is on the plastic near the vent so it can keep the phone cool on long trips when I'm using it for navigation. It's adjustable in several directions and the vent can also be adjusted. I'm giving these mounts 5 stars for now. Hopefully everything will go well. I like the convenience of the magnetic mount. If all goes well with the adhesives then I'll keep it 5 stars.

This is a review of the "Window/Dash Mount" version of the product... For the record, I have a Galaxy S4 and use the "Wollony Rugged Hybrid Dual Layer Hard Shell Armor" case for my phone. Overall, the mount does precisely what I need it to do: Hold my phone securely in a single position with minimal movement while I drive. I use Waze for traffic alerts, so having a phone held in a single position with minimal movement is ideal. My previous mount was a vent mount that "gripped" the phone from the sides... And that was not ideal. The setup for the phone is straight forward. I already had a mount on my dashboard from a Garmin GPS unit, so I just used that for placing the suction mount. Between the sticky surface and the suction, it holds very securely. The swivel head allows for a large degree of movement, so placing the mount in the right position is just a bit of work. Once in place, the mount hasn't moved so much as a centimeter. The metal plate for the phone required a bit of trial and error. Initially, I placed the large plate between my phone and phone case. Unfortunately the thickness of the case interfered with the magnetic attraction to the plate, so my phone would slide during my drive. And a large bump would knock the phone completely off. I decided to place the plate on the exterior of the phone case, and the magnetic attraction worked perfectly. The "grip" between phone, phone case, and mount is ideal for keeping the phone level and in a single position during the entirety of my drive. So, the set-up works perfectly for my purposes. The small plate that attaches to the case is a bit too small for my purposes, since the back of my phone case is not perfectly flat, but the large plate works well. Ideally, the manufacturer could offer metallic "strips" that could adhere to smaller spaces on different cases, but that is a minor issue and is largely cosmetic. I also followed other reviews, and made certain to let the large plate "adhere" to my case for 24 hours to ensure that the adhesive wouldn't fail from use. I do not recommend using either plate directly on your phone, and would recommend using it on the case instead. (Replacement plates are available for minimal cost, should you decide to replace the phone case.) Overall, depending on your specific phone and phone case, this is a good dashboard mount. You may have to experiment a bit with the exact arrangement of the plate versus the phone versus the phone case... But I've yet to experience any significant detriment or problems. (If anything changes in the next month, I'll edit my review accordingly.)

This phone holder is of good quality and can be mounted wherever you want. It's smallish, so you should try positioning it before applying the sticky tape. I used the additional sticky pad that's provided to mount the magnetic holder because the dash on my truck isn't perfectly smooth. I have a thick rubber Otter Box case for my phone, which wouldn't be a secure place to tape on the provided steel plate, so I taped it directly to the back of my phone, down low for fit, and put the case back on. This only marginally worked because the magnetism didn't work well through the rubber. So, I ended up cutting an opening through my phone case to fully expose the metal plate. I regularly travel Class -2 to Class-4 backroads up here in Vermont, but my phone no longer falls to the floor like it has in the past; it stays right where I put it.

I am careful with my phone, so I prefer a slim case. This one looked very slim, so I decided to give it a try despite not having any reviews. I'm glad I did because it seems very sturdy. It's easy to get on/off the phone, and access to all the ports is generous. It doesn't block anything, like so many other cases I've tried in the past. This case is two layers. First you put your phone inside the more flexible black shell. This shell wraps around all the corners and the entire back. It wraps around the front a tiny bit so you can lay the phone face down on a flat surface and your screen doesn't touch the surface. This part of the shell does provide some grip with the surface, but not as much as those gel type shells. This part also wraps over the volume and power buttons. I really like that it doesn't change the feel of the phone buttons. Then there is a second harder shell that goes on the back. I got mine in gold. It really looks great. It is not shiny and has a nice, mildly grippy surface on it. It has little gaps where the black softer parts stick up through it, which helps keep it in place in your hand. I have only one minor complaint: every now and then I've noticed the hard back starting to slip off. In the manufacturer's defense, I have a magnet between the two shells (I use a magnet dash mount in my car) and it's probably pushing the back part away from the inner shell. In wrapping up this review, this case seems like a great combination of functionality and protection. (It does not include a screen protector.) It looks very stylish, is easy to hold without being sticky, and it slips in and out of a pocket easily. Honestly, I can't understand why there aren't a thousand great reviews of these cases. I'm very happy with it.

UPDATED AGAIN 11.3.16...This has almost completely stopped holding my phone at all. It falls multiple times daily, to and from work and it now won't stay in an upright position, but starts sliding down and over to one side before it just falls completely off. I'm tired of picking my phone up off the floor or having to deal with it while driving. I recently took the interstate home due to construction on my usual route - it vibrated SO badly at those higher speeds that it was annoying more than anything. This product is a 100% FAIL for me. Wasted money that I can't get back. I would NOT recommend this product at all. UPDATED 9.27.16.....After a month of use I am sadly, very disappointed in this product. It started off strong and great, now, not so much. My phone, while on the magnet, is now vibrating quite a bit and makes a noise from all the movement. Not a loud, obnoxious noise, but you can hear it "rattling". The super duper strong magnet has lost it's oomph and my phone falls from the magnet at least twice a day on the way to AND from work. I have not changed courses and I take back roads, so my top speed is 50MPH. Given the new details, I would no longer recommend this product. It doesn't stand the test of time, at least it hasn't for me. I previously had an iOttie Model HLCRIO101. It had a silicone/gel insert on the suction cup that melted in 100° temps recently. While looking for a replacement, I saw some magnetic ones that looked so much easier to use and had less moving parts. I conducted research on Amazon and found this one to have good reviews and a style I liked. I own a Jeep 4x4 with big tires, so my ride isn't the smoothest from the get go. I'm stating this because other users have mentioned that there is too much vibration. I mount mine for GPS usage - on the windshield - just to the left of the steering wheel. Compared to the iOttie, this model does have more vibration/shaking to it. It only occurs on bumpier roads and not at all on smooth surfaces. While the vibration is more, it is not to such a degree that I cannot see or read the screen. It certainly is also not enough for me to consider it defective or return for something else. I honestly don't know of any windshield or dash cellphone mount that doesn't vibrate some. This product does not have a gel/silicone insert on the suction cup (which I like) and it is firmly attached to the windshield even prior to locking the base in place. Once it's locked, it's on extremely well. The bendable neck is very sturdy yet easy to position where/how you want it. It brings it out further from the windshield than the iOttie did, but that means it's closer and easier for me to read. Placement of your device on or taking it off is extremely easy and doesn't involve much effort at all. This is a perk over the iOttie (it required you to snap it into place and then push in on two buttons located on either side of it, to remove your phone). I like the minimalist look and use of this device. I wasn't sure how well a magnetic device would hold my Samsung Galaxy S5 and LifeProof Case. I chose to mount the rectangular metal piece inside the battery cover of my phone. Even with the metal plate inside the phone, that is then inside a case, the pull is strong enough to keep my phone firmly and securely mounted. Very impressive. I would say this product is well worth the money and makes mounting your device a breeze.
