Spoiler Alert: Not a good plot twist
I’ve read about 10 Frieda McFadden books so far, and I think that everyone can agree that The Housemaid was her best work — which is probably why that book was turned into a movie. But the reason that that book was so good is that McFadden actually plays fair with the audience. In most of her other books, including Never Lie, she doesn’t play fair with the audience. Sure, they’ll still fun to read, but they’re always disappointing because she tricks the audience in an unfair way. SPOILER ALERT: In Never Lie, she goes far beyond the “unreliable narrator” trick that she uses in 95% of her books, and in this book, the narrator is just a complete liar for the vast majority of the book. That’s not a plot twist, that’s just bad writing. Anybody on the planet can write a book like this, because at the very end, all you have to say is “Just kidding! Everything I’ve told you about myself is a lie! Here’s the truth!” It’s the equivalent of “everything was just a dream this entire time”. Frieda McFadden may want to look into the literary concept of “superior positioning”, which is something she never ever ever uses. Frieda only knows from the literary concept of “SURPRISE!”, but the more effective literary tool is “superior positioning”… where the reader knows something that the characters don’t, and the reader is horrifyingly sitting on the edge of their seats while they wait for the characters to find out what the reader already knows. But Frieda always keeps audience members in the dark — and then unfairly tricks them at the end by pulling the rug out from under their feet. If Frieda used superior positioning instead, she would be a much better writer and it would result in much better books.

Delightful Plot Twist
Freida McFadden has an unique ability to keep me turning the page and wanting to read more. The plot of this story is good and leads you down an unexpected path. I love this book. I read The Tenant and really liked that one but this book was even better. I’m hooked.

A good read
Not as good as the housemaid series but still enjoyable . I thought I had figured out the plot twist early on, but I was definitely wrong. I only had a couple issues with this book. First of all I think the ending was unsatisfying . The characters were rewarded for their disturbing behaviors. I also did not like how Tricia was telling the story in first person. I really could not believe this was the same character from start to finish. This created a lot of holes and inconsistency for me. I still really enjoyed the book and found it entertaining.

Addictive; Hard to put down
The book Never Lie was sooooo good I struggled to put it down. I loved the twists and turns. If you love psychological thrillers that actually earn their twists rather than just throwing in random shock value, this one's absolutely worth your time.

Honesty Matters; Nothing Else Does
‘Never Lie’ was thrilling in an eerie kind of way. The fascinating plot involved a young couple who drove out to view a possible estate they might buy, but they got stuck there due to a snowstorm. While there, the wife stumbled upon something that wasn’t her business along with a portrait of the deceased owner, and that got the ball rolling. With some twists in the plot, the book was riveting and not predictable.
