Just Like Japan
This is a lifestyle product. If you don't like to sit on the floor, don't buy this table. It won't make you magically want to sit on the floor. But if you already like to sit on the floor and don't want to heat your whole house to 72 degrees in the winter, this thing is heaven. I sprang for an expensive, Japan-made kotatsu futon and mat ($250+), but you can use this with any full- or queen-sized comforter to the same effect. I DO recommend using a rug or a blanket as a mat to insulate your booty from the cold floor. Even using a light blanket on it trapped most of the heat in and made sitting under this table cozy and pleasant. Some tips:DO adjust the table temperature!! There is a knob that allows you to turn the heat up or down. Experiment until you find the right setting.DO use a blanket over it!! The blanket goes BETWEEN the frame and that table top. There's a board between the heater and the blanket, so this is safe. Don't be a chump and put the blanket on top of the table top.DO let your cats under it. They will probably love it.DO follow the instructions! Switch the table off AND UNPLUG when not in use. NEVER LEAVE ANY UNSUPERVISED HEATER ON!!DO turn your thermostat down. Unless your spouse keeps the house at 65 degrees already, you won't appreciate the value of this table until you drop the temperature 5 degrees in the house and cuddle up cozy warm under it.Kotatsu have been keeping people in poorly-insulated houses warm for decades. If you own an old, drafty house, this table will save you so much money in the winter! Remember you may want a sweater to keep your arms warm, but I usually end up taking off anything but a light sweater, since this table is so cozy and effective. I have had no trouble with the cord or plug. You will need a GROUNDED OUTLET to use this (or any) heater, so test your outlet to make sure the ground port is live!Yoroshiku onegaishimasu!

Perfect budget kotatsu
If you are debating on getting a kotatsu & don’t want to build one, this is a great option that’s not too expensive. Easy to put together. Heater works greats; I’ve been using it almost every day for the past month. Legs do feel/look a little cheap, but you can’t see them under your blanket. Table is smooth and cleans up easy. Plenty of room to sit or lay down at, though it does get crowded with more than one person.

J-drama ready.Worth it, but looks plasticky
Took one star off because I have slight damage -see picture, the table top slides and the legs are really plastic which I do not like. Other than that it works fine. It has an auto shut off. I bought to improve mobility, i.e. sit on the floor. But I don't hope it does not go that way of the bike you can see which is hardly used . It comes with a little metal clip thing to connect. I thought the plug so I just hooked it into one of the legs. So far so good I thought it would blow some circuits, but it has not. My house is old and super cold. There is no basement and the insulation above the crawlspace is purely fictional at this point. I just put a fleece blanket over it and that works just fine. I definitely would not recommend using it with children until the age of 13 or 14, because of the blanket and if you let your animals use it, you should watch them again because of the blanket.

Great table!
My only issue was that I ordered the gray/black and got the gray/brown. I don’t want to hassle with a return and both sides of the table top work in my overall color scheme. It was incredibly easy to put together and is attractive and sturdy. No bowing of the table top for mine. You wouldn’t want to sit on it or anything, but it is certainly capable of supporting standard tabletop items and food in serving dishes, etc. the heater is amazing, it is a gentle heat without a fan. Combined with a blanket over the top it is incredibly cozy. I have wanted a kotatsu table for years and I love this table so much. I’m glad I made the investment, just wish I had done it sooner.

I love this table.
I've always wanted a kotatsu but have struggled to find one that could accomodate a US voltage. The legs are made of plastic, which isn't an issue for me. I usually keep it on the lowest to mid settings, so I'm not sure how the highest settings fair with the heater, but for me, these are idea heating levels given that it's contained really well with a comforter on it.

Heater quit working after 10 months
This was a good kotatsu, for a while. Fairly solid table, the heater worked pretty well, until it stopped working. We did not damage it.The warranty is only for 3 months.I think the problem is in the socket where the cord plugs into the heater, but not sure. When I looked at it, the heater says made in China. A lot of very sloppy soldering in the heater. It was convenient that it runs on 120v for the US, but if you're looking for a kotatsu it may be worth it to get one from Japan and a converter.

Absolutely amazing!
It's the perfect size for the two of us (my 6'3" husband and my 4'10" self). My husband likes sitting on a gaming chair since he plays on the PS5 while at the kotatsu. I bought a cushioned floor chair for myself. It took maybe ten minites to put the table together! The dial for setting the heat level is great, it has a very low level that we usually use. I think we've only gone up about halfway and that was plenty warm. If we lose our heater again this winter, we are good.I also like that it has two different surfaces/colours for the tabletop. I bought a fairly inexpensive comforter on Amazon and it's fantastic with this.My husband thought that I was crazy for wanting a kotatsu... He uses it more than I do! Oh, and please ignore the mess on the floor in the photo. We have a lovebird who likes to spread seed allover.
