To get a bra size, measure under your breasts this gives bra size, then measure over the breasts, the difference gives cup size. Ie 2" would be 'a' cup. There is a website maybe on Amazon can't remember, that caters for men's bras. Good luck.

Does it squish your breasts together like most sports bras for a larger size do?

It does but not as much as some sports bras

Is the material thick enough or is it transparent.

It is thick, not at at all transparent, and you feel well held in. I bought the black one, and two other sports-type bras. I returned both of these and replaced them with the white version of this as,I liked it so much, even though it is much more expensive than the ones I returned.
