Surprisingly good.
As a child of the 70's, I remember fondly watching this show in my 'formative teenage years'. As such I was slightly worried that the 'campness' of the 80's would ruin my memories of this show. However, I was pleasantly surprised. Sure some of the outfits and fashions are a little cringe-worthy, and the way that certain characters act (not the acting, however) can be a bit hammy. But for those of us that remember that time period, I recall people wearing their jackets with the sleeves rolled up and the HUGE amount of pastel colours and neons in the clothing.None of this - in my opinion, at least - detracts from what is a well written and well acted show. The show also benefitted from Michael Mann's involvement; a lot of the stylised look of Miami Vice comes from him and can also be seen in his later work - Manhunter, Heat, and the film Miami Vice. One of the earliest episodes has Crockett and Tubbs, driving the Daytona Spyder at night through near deserted streets to the strains of Phil Collins' "In the air tonight". The only sound was the sounds of the guns being loaded and the minimal dialogue of the characters. The whole scene just built tension and the seriousness of what was to come. Overall, really enjoying it all over again. The packaging is really smart too and doesn't look unsightly on a shelf with lots of other DVD's/blu-ray's.If you remember this show, but are unsure of how it has aged; accept it for what it is - a show set in, and from the 80's - and sit back and enjoy.

Some people have given this a poor review because they don't like the show content
Some people have given this a poor review because they don't like the show content, in which case I don't understand why they purchased the set in the first place. I was a teenager in the 80s and I remember the huge impact that this show had on the nation, changing how people dressed and acted. The 80s soundtrack is fantastic for those of us who lived through it first time around and I have been amazed at how little I remember of the story-lines, so it's like watching a new show. It is also fascinating to see all the guest appearances from people who, at the time, were pretty much unknown, but now are very successful actors. I am really enjoying it. If you remember enjoying it first time around, then I am sure you will really enjoy revisiting it.

Paper box is a let down...
Brilliant set always loved the Miami Vice series back in the 80s , i had the first set in the much larger packaging and due to the size bought this new slimline set, great but typical with time and money saving the new slimline set has a VERY flimsy box a complete let down in my opinion, the first larger box set is very strong very well made so whilst this takes less space why did they need to make it out of paper!!!!

Both my wife and I enjoyed watching Miami Vice
I agree with what others have written about this box set of Miami Vice. When it originally screened on the TV in New Zealand I was working shift work and saw only odd episodes, and we didn't own a VCR at the time. So, I looked forward to watching the whole five seasons again. Both my wife and I enjoyed watching Miami Vice. It has not really dated, still being easy to watch and enjoy. However there are a couple of negatives. What appears to be the final episode appears on Disc 5 (Disc 31 of the 32 in the box set) of the fifth season, There are another four episodes that come after that. The other negative was that only the first season comes with subtitles. My wife and I are hard of hearing, so we had to have the volume well up on the TV while watching seasons 2 - 5.

Fantastic Series
I always enjoyed watching this series the first time round, back in the 1980s. So when I found the full box set could be bought for a reasonable price recently I jumped at the chance and bought it before the price changed. I am a huge fan of Don Johnson, I think he was georgeous back then and my opinion has not changed, it's him and his caring way that comes across strongly which gives the episodes such a sense of being real. It has been said in the past that it was this concept of stylish dressing and fast sports cars that really put Miami on the map, and took the whole idea of cops and robbers away from being just people with no dress sense and tatty transport. So I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys fast action adventures, it's certainly good for that.

Bring back the 80s please!!!
After watching the first 2 disks I had to write to say that I'd forgotten just how good this was! The music is amazing, the script is fast paced and witty and even though its 30 years old it really hasn't dated too badly....and of course what can I say about Don't Johnson! Probably the most gorgeous man on TV then and not sure there's anyone now to beat him! Not many men can make a powder blue suit look that sexy!!! I'm going to savour this box set!! :-)

The use of locations is brilliant, and the city streets glisten at night...
One of my favourite box sets. The best episodes are just about as good as it can get. The high standard cannot possibly be maintained throughout such a long run, especially as some episodes try to be deliberately challenging. This contrasts with, for instance, The Shield where there is a uniformly high standard throughout, but no episode quite leaves the lasting impression that some of the Miami Vice episodes leave. The use of locations is brilliant, and the city streets glisten at night.

Miami Vice - Must see TV
I watched these 1st time round when i was younger.....bought these and i still love the program. The box set is great value for money. People have commented on the lack of "Extra bonus features". The box is absolutely rammed full of disks and not having the extras is fine as the program itself is amazing. They haven't been remastered visually but still look great.
