Zero Tolerance 0006 Fixed Blade Knife, Full Tang 6 inch CPM 3V Blade Field Knife, Green G10 Handle, Durable Kydex Sheath, Made in the USA

I have been casually looking for a good field knife for a while now and my curse is that I over research things. I wanted a good full tang, prefer G-10 grips and a military styling. After near exhaustive searching, I found the ZT 0006 to have everything I wanted on the periphery, the CPM 3V steel is certainly a plus, and the fit and finish looked to be spot on. Further more its made here in the US with US steel so a lot of my boxes were checked. The price was a little daunting but for what I was considering to be a life knife I was certainly willing to save and pay a bit more. I had watched The Sharpest Edge on you tube and was forearmed about identifying faux ZT knives but when my knife arrived it was certainly a true ZT. The knife seemed to have had its kydex sheath formed around it and left that way before shipping and it took a little effort to free the blade, but once done the knife returned to its sheath with nary a rattle. The fit and finish of the knife is absolutely peerless. From the blade to the G 10 Handle, everything is absolutely perfect and very well thought out and implemented. The guard is a good addition to protect the hand during usage, but it is perfectly sized and I am able to choke up and get my thumb comfortably over the top of the guard to access the jimping on the back of the blade. The weight of the knife lends its self to comfort during usage. It has a palpable yet comfortable weight implying a well crafted knife yet it will not overly fatigue you through extended uses. The green G 10 scales are perfectly milled and provide a good purchase. The milling on them gives you a good solid grip without being overly aggressive and abrasive. If there were one drawback, it would be the price of the knife. Many will find the cost to be a bit out of a reasonable budget, and this knife is certainly an expensive one. For me it's buy once cry once. I expect this knife to have a long field life before it is passed on. He sure dinged the ole pocketbook, but there is not regret is buying this quite excellent knife.

The knife is really nice. The machining is excellent - very crisp lines, great surface finishes and fit, lots of generous bevels to knock off sharp corners which makes the knife feel *much* better than a lot of production knives. Extremely sharp out of the box. The guard is ample enough to prevent accidents when hands are wet, grip is imperfect or wearing gloves but small enough that you can still thumb the spine of the blade for good control. This reminds me a lot of a combat classic, the chute knife, which also blurs the combat-utility divide. The grip is textured enough, without being so grippy it is irritating on bare hands. It is very nearly symmetrical though, so if you picked it up without looking you would not be able to orient the cutting edge. Still, an excellent knife in all regards in a size that’s a little uncommon. The sheath, on the other hand, was barely worth including in my opinion. It doesn’t seem well thought out - the hole and slot spacing is such that it is incompatible with a tek lok at a reasonable ride height, which is one of the most popular kydex sheath mounting options, if not the most. The retention is lackluster, making the sheath useless without the nylon belt loop with retention strap which is not a great carry option imo, and precludes any MOLLE mounting options except tying or taping the whole thing on. In a production environment, making a good kydex sheath is just as easy as making a bad kydex sheath, so I find it very disappointing that they chose to make a bad kydex sheath, or just didn’t know what good meant. I make my own kydex and leather sheaths, so not an issue for me, but anyone else would expect a functional sheath for a knife in this price range, or for it to not come with one at all. All in all, I like the knife a lot and will keep it now that I have a useful sheath for it.

ZT knives produce some of the finest knives; outstanding grip, sturdy and razor sharp, they are outfitted with a very portable yet versatile sheath. This ZT 0006 fixed blade is no exception. CPM-3V blade steel; well countoured and grippy OD green micarta handles, with full tang construction makes this blade extremely durable and formidable in any extreme environment. But don't take my word for it... Buy one for yourself and see what ZT has to offer!

CMP 3V steel, need I say more. Will take a beating and come back for more. Feels great in the hand. The knife was not nearly as heavy as I expected. Retention on the sheath is very secure, yet easy to remove the blade thanks to the sheath design.

I haven’t used this knife yet other than cutting paper but the fit and finish are amazing. The feel of the knife in hand is great. Very balanced, solid and natural feeling. I know others have said the sheath is bad but mine fits perfectly and locks in with no rattle. Either ZT fixed the issue or it’s hit or miss in the fit of the sheath.

This thing came light saber sharp. Looks and feels amazing in the hand. The only complaint I have is the sheath is terrible. For a 300$ knife you would think the sheath would be perfect.
