Q: The duster, itself, clogs up badly. The dust is not clumpy. How do I keep the duster from clogging and not working?

Leave 2 to 3 pennies inside and shake it. Will break up any clumps and should help prevent it from clogging. The idea is to form a very light cloud mixture. Insects will avoid heavy concentrations. So you want a dust film on the area that is being treated. I am not sure with this one, but it is pictured reverse of how they are normally used. The bellow is usually down. So you are puffing out a mixture of air/powder. So the area gets a very fine coat of the powder. When an insect walks through the area static electricity created by it's movement makes the powder jump onto the insect. You want to avoid heavily powdering, as the insects will then avoid walking through or near the area.So try shaking it to create the air/powder mix. Then just reverse how they are using it in the picture. Puffing out a light cloud.

When insects with an exoskeleton come into contact with DE, it remains on them and they die from dehydration. Food Grade DE is safer for human lungs than pool filter-grade DE because it has smaller particles. Pool filter-grade DE should not be used for pest control. A mask should be worn during application of the DE in order to minimize inhalation of DE particles. After application and the DE has settled, it is safe for humans and pets.C Where and why is DE applied?The Harris Diatomaceous Earth Powder Duster is used to apply DE (sold separately) to target ants, beetles, bed bugs, cockroaches, earwigs, fleas, pantry moths, mites, scorpions, spiders, silverfish, and other bugs with exoskeletons. Wear respiratory protection (face mask). Use duster to apply to pantries, cupboards, basements, garages, in carpet, under sinks, along baseboards, thresholds, in cracks and crevices and any other problem area. Safe for use on and around food storage and food prep areas.

This is a useful device, but it is only good for small amounts, like if you were putting dust in cracks or around the refrigerator. A little goes a long way, I used a shaker, like a big spice shaker, to treat the back porch and the perimeter of the house, the thing about it is, you don't have to sprinkle it directly on the crickets, if it's on the floor and the floor is dry, the crickets will pick it up, and they will eventually die. I've seen it work this way on cockroaches. The product is the consistency of talcum powder, and as long as it is not washed away or soaks up moisture, it will remain effective.

Q: Is the tip thin enough to fit inside electric outlets?

Only if you take off the outlet cover. I do not know what level of electrical knowledge you have, but taking cover off will not endanger you.:)

Great puffer for powders- used to kill wasp nest

Very simple design which works perfectly.The large bellows design puffs much better than the bulb style puffers, as it really blows some air out meaning you deliver more powder with more force.I needed to puff some wasp nest killer powder into a nest above head height. Most bottle only push powder out when pointing down.This allows you to shoot powder deep into the entrance of the nest at any angle.Well worth the money.
