Hi julie. No charging! you just plug it in and go... It comes with a little attachment that you can attach a hose to instead of using the filter pads. When using the filter pads it makes quite a mess of the water. But the hose gets it out of the tank. Good tool

Q: I want to use this to clean out and do water changes on my fish tanks. What hose does this need? Where do I get it from?

Measured the adapter. It's a standard 9/12mm diameter hose. You'll have no problem finding it. (9mm is the internal diameter and 12mm is the external diameter)

Q: Does it have stonger suction than the battery operated one?

It is a 100% better than the battery operated one. It has 2 speeds so you can choose which one.

Q: Does it recycle or remove the water ?

Great device, it comes with filter pads and works like an underwater hoover, But it also comes with a tubing adapter, just get a couple feet of plastic tube (from most aquatic shops) and you can use it for water changes . I am a big fan of this product. So it recycles and removes.
