I bought this a couple years ago to use as an orchid potting medium and it worked well. However, when I recently bought it again, the quality was not there. Specifically, it felt like I got the bottom of the barrel, so to speak, mostly tiny flakes and stems instead of uniform pieces of solid bark. It was not just less attractive, it wouldn't stay in my aerated orchid pot because the pieces were small enough to fall through the ventilation holes on the sides.

I've ordered this multiple times before & this isnt the same stuff. It has a smell & it never did. It is way softer also... hopefully it works as well & doesnt hold water! First photo us what I have now, the 2nd is what I use to have! You can tell a difference 🙄

This mix seems higher quality than what you would get from lowes or the default mix that you get with prepotted orchids. If you need a little more than you should try this out. Just make sure you keep in mind the size listed with this item
