Good resealable odor-barrier-film packaging for people with fragrance sensitivities
In case anyone else is concerned about this, as of mid-February 2023, buying the 300-ct Tyvek non-indicating 5g packets means that you get a mylar, metallized/aluminized resealable ziplock bag full of packets. My bag arrived sealed, and although there were perfume-like odors on the *outside* of the bag, the packets inside have not absorbed any smells and the mylar protected them against odors/VOCs.Very pleased with this barrier-film packaging, as I am extremely sensitive to fragrances and other strong odors, and other brands of desiccants transfer absorbed smells to the goods I store them with (making those goods, in turn, noxious). Won't have this problem with this batch from this brand, at least. Recommended for others with fragrance sensitivities or multiple chemical sensitivities.

Great so far
Great so far. My girlfriend and I preserve a lot of food by drying, especially edible wild mushrooms! We learned that, in time, the dried boletes etc. would get moldy from moisture. So to prevent this, we began to keep our dried mushrooms in the freezer...but it started to get full, lol. So these packets are the ideal solution. We seal each bag inside another freezer bag, which has one or more of these packets in it. Only one of the 100 packets was slightly unsealed at the end, and was spilling some of the dessicant. But they are very hard to rip open, if they are sealed to begin with...and besides, well, that's exactly why we paid a little extra for this non-toxic product--so that it is safe to use with food, even if it did rip open. It has allowed us to keep preserving as much of our wild foods collection as we want, without it taking up freezer space. Nice product.

A MUST FOR MY BUSINESS
I customize items with bling. Once the item has been completed and sanitized the item needs to be dried. I place one of these packets in each package to absorb moisture. I will continue to purchase this item.

not clear how to recharge in microwave
Great little packets I have bought multiple times. Now I have a microwave oven and trying to recharge them. I have a very sensitive and calibrated gram scale to check the effect of microwaving on the weight of the packet, and hence the moisture content. Unfortunately I don't have a control – I didn't weight a new, unused packet.I ran a batch of used packets multiple times in the oven. The first run was at power level 1 out of 10, for 2 min. This resulted in an avg. packet weight of about 7g. Then I did another run of these same packets on level 3 for 1 min. This resulted in an avg. weight of about 6.79g. Then I did another run on level 3 for 1 min. This produced an avg. weight of about 6.79g (no improvement over last run). I did a final run at level 3 for 2 min. This produced an avg. weight of about 6.76g (slight improvement over the last run). From this experiment, it seems that the used packets were holding about 0.21g of moisture each. This is way off from the product's stated claim of "Each 5g desiccant packet can absorb humidity of 1.5g". It's off by a factor of 7+. So, either the packets don't hold nearly as much moisture as advertised, or they need to be heated in the microwave for much longer. The fact that the used packets had an avg. weight of about 7g at the start of my testing is a possible indication that they were saturated with about 1.5-2g of moisture (because they are supposed to be 5g packets when brand new).At this point, I am guessing they need to be heated in the microwave for much longer. I just did another test, on a different batch of used packets, on heat level 2 for 10 minutes. The starting avg. weight was 6.93g, and ending avg. weight 6.8g, so they lost 0.13g of moisture.More testing needed!UPDATE: I did more testing and came to some conclusions.I bought a new bag of the 5g packets and received Aug. 3, 2022. I measured the weight of 10 of these packets out of the bag, and came up with an avg. weight of 5.22g. I put these 10 packets in a mason jar with a tight lid. I proceeded to use almost all of the packets from the new bag. On Sept. 18, there were 2 packets out of the 10 left in the mason jar. They had an avg. weight of 5.42g, so they picked up a very small amount of moisture inside the jar.On Sept. 18 I took 10 old, used packets and tested their avg. weight to be 6.89g. I then did a series of microwave tests on these 10 packets. The microwave power level was set at 3 out of 10. After 3 min., the avg. weight was down to 6.77g. After 6 more min., 6.5g. After 10 more min., 5.8g. After 16 more min., 5.4g. At this point, I was happy that the 10 packets had been "recharged". Total microwave time at power level 3 for 10 packets: 35 min. Then I did a final test of 20 used packets for 30 min. at power level 3. The outcome was 6.1g avg. weight for the 20. So, the number of packets in the microwave affects the drying power of the power level setting. I then took 10 of the 20 packets and heated for another 10 min. The outcome of these 10 was avg. weight 5.82g. With another 10 min. of heating, the avg. weight was down to around 5.4g.The microwave I have is the Amazon Basics one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07894S727To fully recharge, I heated 10 packets at a time, power level 3, for 40 min.If you'd like to try 20 packets at a time, try power level 3 for 1 hour.

Pretty good!
They are fairly small which makes it nice to spread them through our long term food storage bins to keep the humidity low. I bought the non color indicating kind here, and then I bought some color indicating packets from a different seller to help indicate if they all need to be recharged in the oven or if they still have some time left. Might take the water on at different speeds but I’d imagine they would be fairly similar. Works good. Small and there are a ton of them which is great for spreading them all over the place

DO NOT Bake at recommended temperature
The package recommends baking at between 220 and 240 degrees. I baked at 230 and while in the oven they were sticky but would pull apart gently. Once cool, they were permanently stuck, and the bags would rip rather than separate.Unfortunately, what appears to be a once U S brand has offshored to the cheapest bidder in China.

Absolute Top Quality!
These work very well, and I love using this next larger size packet. I ship items that can be delicate to unwanted humidity, and these work perfectly for that. Many other manufacturers in our field, are moving to this size as well. For that extra protection and care, our customers deserve. One of the added benefits of using these Interteck Packaging 5 Gram Silica Gel Packets. Is the thicker outer layer. Making them impervious to the rigors of today's shipping and handling machinery. In other words. Our customers do not receive product in packaging, that have a broken Desiccant Pack inside, and beads rolling around everywhere. Plus, these can be 'recharged. Which our customers love as well.
