Silverline Chain Block 1000kg / 2.5m Lift Height (633705)

I was really surprised with this purchase, despite the reviews commenting on the quality the block and tackle, it is well made and works without fault. It was recently used to hoist heavy RSJs into position during a house alteration. There is sufficient length in the chains to provide a decent lift height and the high reduction gearing ensures easy operation. The overall weight of the equipment is heavy, but not too heavy to prohibit relocation. All in it represents good value for money.

Got mine a couple quid cheaper " as used" but in fact it must have just had a mishap in the warehouse because the box was quite tatty but the thing itself was perfect, apart from a tiny ding in the case, but then I didn't buy it to hang in the lounge. I was using it to lower massive concrete barge boards into to small slots in the ground to be concreted in to use as shuttering for a summer house base on very sloping ground. It made the job a breeze. I personally thought the little block was fantastic bearing in mind the price.

Bought this to lift our riding-on mower to get decent access to deck and belts. Will be used for much more tho. Had a small issue of the chain being snagged inside the pulley on delivery. With a little patience and some twisting and shaking it went back into place. Worked perfect and done everything it was supposed to. Next test will be a 1 ton sack of feed off a trailer. Good item. Definitely recommend.

It claims to have a lifting height of 3m, yet the maximum distance between the hooks is only 2.77m and the maximum distance over which it can lift is only 2.46m. So how much can one trust the claim that it can lift a ton. The chains are not plated or painted and are covered with a thin layer of grease, which can pick up dirt and grit, so you accept that, or clean the chains and they may go a little rusty. The unit was delivered and returned twice because the cover of the hand-chain sprocket had been bent in so much it stopped the chain running properly. So it may pay to check for this before accepting delivery. When then ordered directly from Amazon the cover was still slightly bent, but not enough to be of concern. All that aside, for what it cost this is a very usefull and effective piece of equipment for lifting and supporting heavy objects. It could cost as much just to buy the chain it uses. The main problem is having something to hang the chain-block on that is strong enought to take the load. No longer having a convenient strong tree branch available I am having to design and construct a tripod, which is costing far more than the chain block. Three spare scafold poles might be suitable, depending on their length, if rather heavy, providing they are straight, and you have a way of joining them at the apex. This unit has a separate hand-chain and lifting-chain, which makes it easier to use than some simpler chain-blocks, which only have a single chain. The mechanism is very controllable, if a little notchy and slow, and occasionaly the hand-chain forms a knot and jams, but this is a minor issue. It can work with quite a limited headroom, with a minimum distance between the hooks of 310mm. So allowing for the length of the slings, one may only need about a metre, or less, of headroom above the maximum height of the object being lifted. If the support is strong enough it should be possible to use it in a typical garage, such as for lifting out an engine.

Used this to lift a 6.5m steel beam into place at the apex of a building with vaulted ceiling. Very easy to use, and was much cheaper than even renting a beam lift for half a day. Plus I now get to keep the tool for other jobs when needed. The gearing is very smooth, and while the lift I made was only circa 300kg with it, the ratio was low enough to work with the weight very easily.

This block and tackle kit plus straps I ordered separate were a life saver for me. I have a very large loft opening 4'x2' and I bought recently a planer/thicknesser and table saw, very bulky items and pretty heavy for a small guy like me to try and lift through a loft hatch. I screwed a decent batten across 3 rafters looped my lifting straps through the batten with a suitable length drop to allow for me to get my tools winched up to the loft /workshop, takes a long time to winch it to the height of the loft floor but say about 10 minutes was virtually effortless, thicknesser alone was 35kg more than half my weight. Had to disconnect my loft ladder and use trestle ladder to get into loft and unload my stuff which I made easier by using a decent sheet of plywood to put under the load then lower it down and slide across into my loft. Just be aware if the chain rubs over the item whilst hoisting it can chip the paintwork you would ideally put some old blanket around it to prevent this. Be careful with the chain as you are hoisting as it can snag but just slightly reverse it and then forward again to raise. I got used to it quickly so shouldn't be a problem, patience is key. Would recommend even if you will only use this rarely as when you don't have family or friends you are stuck doing certain things like this on your own safely.

Easy to install and use for lifting steelwork for loft conversion. I mounted it on 34mm galvanised tube, but had to feed tube through hook before fixing tube in place as size of opening and spring would not allow hooking on to tube when in place. Once in place worked without fault. Gearing ratio makes light work of heavy loads, but can take a while to lift full height of 2.5m. Used in conjunction with web slings form amazon to increase length of drop, (but not actual lift height of 2.5m)

Have wanted/needed a decent hoist in the garage for ages now, but have invariably found myself struggling with assorted ropes and lengths of chain...not recommended. Anyway, decided to splash out and purchase this item as it seemed a very good price, and it had some decent reviews. So, arrived promptly, and I really couldn't be more pleased. It's pretty substantial and heavy, but very easy to operate, and works a treat. Recommended.

ik heb deze ketting takel reeds enkele keren gebruikt en ben tevreden van de sterkte. het gebruik van de ketting is soms wel onhandig en lawaaierig. de moeren langs de buitenkant zijn al een beetje verroest na enkele dagen buiten hangen (zonder regen, enkel condens). verder is de takel vrij zwaar, dus niet iets dat je zomaar even erbij neemt. al bij al heel tevreden voor deze prijs. heb er ondertussen al een piano, een betonsokkel en metalen balk mee getild zonder problemen.

Funktion einwandfrei, absolut nicht ölig wie in Bewertungen anderer Produkte, lediglich die notwendigen Beweglichen Teile sind geschmiert, der restliche hauch von Ölfilm von der Produktion auf Gehäuse und Kette ist mit einem Lappen und Fettlöser schnell beseitigt. Funktion 1A wie erwartet, lässt sich Millimetergenau justieren durch die automatische Bremse, absolut nichts auszusetzen und würde jederzeit wieder dieses Produkt kaufen.

Necesitada subir la caldera de 250 kg de peso a una terraza situada en la 1º planta de la vivienda. Fue todo muy preparado = fontanero-calefactor, carretilla para sacar la caldera de su cuarto, tablones de madera para salvar el paso de la puerta, tres tíos fuertes 2 + 1 y por fin llegamos al lugar adecuado para subir a pulso la caldera. Qué desgracia, solo sube 2,4 metros y yo necesitaba subir 3,10 cm. Truco Subir con eslingas desde la planta baja hasta una mesa robusta situada a 75 cm. del suelo. allí la primera parada. Cambio de eslinga, de correajes y de nuevo al polipasto. Se sube con una mano. Es muy lenta, pero sin nada de esfuerzo. Venga a darle a la cadena y a la mano y allí llego sin problemas. Polipasto estupendo. Luego colocar la caldera en su nueva ubicación nos costó lo que no está escrito.

Habe mich für den Kettenzug mit 2.000kg entschieden, trotz einiger negativen Beurteilungen. Habe meinen PKW mit einem Gewicht von 1.500kg über eine Rampe mit einer Neigung von 15° hochgezogen. Durch einen Kupplungsschaden konnte das Getriebe nicht in den Leerlauf geschaltet werden. Die blockierten Räder zeichneten Schleifspuren auf den Betonboden. Der Kettenzug wurde parallel zum Boden montiert, funktionierte einwandfrei. Zwei Befestigungsschrauben, aus Stahl, mit einem Durchmesser von 14mm brachen, der Kettenzug hielt
