– Small Canvas Webbing Messenger Bag

Better than expected for price. Canvas seems hardwaring.Stitching is good. Colour is great. Would not be out of place in the 1940's. Bought for keeping my essentials safe round the house. My wife does not like stuff lying around. Does a great job.

Really happy, its cheap, simple design, tough and supprising how much i can fit in this little bag. Eaily fits my water bottle, lunch box and a few small tools. The simple design means i can fix it as well if i do put a hole in it or break it.

I use this as a dog bag, it usually contains a couple of tennis balls and a telescopic ball flinger long with some hand sanitiser and a nylon bag with spare poo bags and a spare dog whistle. Along the way bags of poo get added as necessary, sometimes it's several dogs worth as I often walk my daughters' dogs along with my own spaniel. It even has room to accomodate the odd dead pheasant or rabbit that the dog finds. All told it's the ideal size for the job. It only has one compartment and I simply tuck the flap inside, nothing falls out and it makes it easy to extract the ball flinger and balls - you don't want the flap getting in the way. I'm six foot tall and the strap is just the right length at the longest setting, the bag then sits at hip height when worn cross body. As it's canvas it stays where you put it because the material is rough, it doesn't slide around your body when you lean forward and the strap stays where you put it on your shoulder. As it has no stiffening, base or anything like that it moulds to your body which makes it stay in position even better and stops it swinging about. The shoulder strap is widened out where it matters which means that it doesn't dig in even when heavily loaded. It's not waterproof so dog drool from the balls soaks into it and when it rains it gets wet; but when it rains so do you and therefore this isn't a Thing as you can always dry it out when you dry your own clothes and because the contents of a dog bag aren't affected by water. Furthermore it's absorbent nature is a bonus when your hand is drooly as you can just use the bag as a hand wipe. Needless to say my wife is not overly fond of this utilitarian but very useful object particularly when it starts to stink after a few months use. That's no problem - it goes in the washing machine and comes out pristine and it doesn't shrink although the colour tends to fade a bit. I've made a couple of modications to mine which show on the photo - one is a piece of plastic pipe which can act as a coat hanger to hold a sweater or jacket and which will also hold a walking pole upright tucked behind it when you're tying off poop bags and need two hands free. The other is a little pocket for my dog whistle which is fixed to a cord fixed through the strap attached to a rubber tap washer to stop it pulling out. That way I've always got the dog whistle with me and it never gets lost. These bags have been around for years - I think that the original design is pre WW2 and they're very durable. Mine develop holes sometime around the 5 year mark and then you just buy another. As it's cotton canvas you can probably compost the old one if it makes you happy :)
