Magnaclean System Cleaner, Black, 22 mm

Having changed all my old radiators for new ones, there were still problems with sludge causing blockages in the upstairs return pipe and hence no heat upstairs. I fitted the Magnaclean, and set about finding the problem areas using a strong magnet along the copper pipe. Turned the pump to highest setting, tapped the pipework in the problem area and whoosh the blockage cleared ... and the system started working! Within the hour, the Magnaclean had gathered copious amounts of sludge and again 24 hours later another amount to dispose of. I will keep emptying on a regular basis until sytem is clear. But already the system sounds a lot healthier and none of the airlocks etc that were there before. So easy to service and top up with inhibitor. 5 stars from me!

Trying to run cleaning chemicals on central heating to remove sludges and fix cold spots on some radiators. I knew that running chemical without a magnetic filter was pointless. So decided to install a magnetic filter to catch suspended magnetites. I have a tight space on the boiler cupboard and also, had to alter pipe work. Finally managed to fit the filter and collected a thick layer of sludges. Overall great and efficient product. Highly recommend to fit on central heating systems.

Simple but incredibly effective idea. I am not a plumber but am from the "I'll do it myself if I can" brigade. This is very easy to install - literally less than 15 minutes - and it offers so much. Took out 150mm of return 22mm pipe (as per instructions) and the way this is designed means the two 90 degree valves have enough play in them that there is no need to flex or stretch the existing pipework to install the unit. I put in all my radiators / pipes some 15 years ago and the Magnaclean wasn't available then but it really is a no-brainer now if you are looking at keeping your central heating going. I have a closed system so did not have to put directly under the boiler (space issues) so plumbed it in on a lower floor return pipe and already has removed a good chunk of black sludge. Really easy to dose the system with this in place - before first flush and installation of Magnaclean I had to get the Sentinel 400 into the radiator top hole which is not that 'unmessy' so after the flush and installation it is so much easier to just pour the sentinel 100 into the large receptacle - takes at least 500ml in one go, open the valves and in it goes! Very impressed!

It's rare that I award 5 stars but this is a product that is worth 6 stars. Having cut my teeth on an early Adey product, then a Boilermag I recognised this products USPs, both installation and operational. Having finally bitten the bullet and replaced my leak prone Boilermag, on installation I am not disappointed. A first install on a straight boiler return would have been as quick and easy as claimed. I was replacing a different filter so took a little longer but still straightforward. What I really like (compared with the Boiler mag) is that all the connections are rigid and are engineered to seal. No more relying on the Boilermag flat rubber washers. Adey have done a great job re-engineering their product. Though a lift out magnet is not my preference a benefit is that the screw-on lid does not have the Boilermag's rotating tank ring to complicate hand tight friction. I'll post operational feedback after the first inspection.

I'm a confident plumber and I installed this one on my brothers central heating system - tank fed system boiler at the week end. I had a lovely spot for it above the boiler for it to go on the return and literally cut the pipes to required distance (think it was about 160mm), it slides in deeper one end and then up, put your ptfe/jointing paste around the olive and crank up. Then slide the chamber over the outlets and tighten up, all in all it must have taken no more than 15mins, obviously draining down took longer - when you drain down ALWAYS change the washer on the drain cock - my tip! I had the system charged back up and running by 3pm Saturday just gone, and I left on Sunday at 10:30am - in this time we had the heating on for probably about 8hrs or so and before I left I wanted to check the filter and could not believe the junk that was attached to the centre spindle!!! it was crazy and asked my brother to check it again in a week, then again a week later, then should be fine for 6 monthly checks. No wonder he said this was his 3rd boiler in 15years.....no surprise with this about of literally "metal shards" floating around in his system. So - the short of it is - fit one - I'd imagine they all do the same - but this one was easy to fit and even easier to clean with the magnet just dropping out and the waste washed away. Buy it - you'll be amazed! Hope this helps

Was an easy fit if you have the right tools and at least some knowledge. “Does what it says on the tin”. I had a very badly slugged up system with 6 rads not working. After a little bit of fresh pipe work and a major flush of each rad and the pipe work, all rads work. The magnaclean is still taking particles out that didn’t come out on the flushing and I would say over time the rads are hotter and the system more efficient. It’s very easy to clean out and only takes 5 - 10 min to do. Every system should have one ....
