Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Excellent value - What a beautiful book. Its hard back cover is really pretty. The pages are so nicely illustrated. It really is a lovely book and real good value for the price. I couldn’t be more pleased. Review: These are timeless stories to be told again and again. - When a child is old enough to read for itself these are stand alone stories with easy to read words. When my granddaughter and her partner were expecting their first child they asked family and friends to each buy a book that they themselves have liked - as a gift for the baby. What a wonderful idea. This meant bedtime stories to be told, later on for them to read themselves, books not just for little children but others to read as they grow older. This means they have an whole library of their own, (with an extending book shelf of coarse) This book was an easy choice for me - l have loved these stories telling them to my daughter as in turn she has told them to her daughter. My great granddaughter is now 2 months old and not knowing of these tales but l'm sure she is going to love these stories as much as l do even though it's 4 generations on. These are timeless stories to be told again and again.

More illustrations would have been good
Not as well illustrated as I'd hoped but decent stories for the kids

Lovely book, beautifully illustrated, fabulous size. Not for the under fives.
This is a lovely book which for grown ups or smaller hands is a really nice size, many childrens books are quite large and trickier to handle while negotiating the duvet whilst page turning at bedtime. I bought this on the back of my daughters obsession of Frozen, as it is said to be loosely based on 'The Snow Queen', I could of bought this story alone but I'm glad I didn't as it's nothing like it! It is however a great take but a bit heavy/involved/wordy for my just-turned-five year old. There are a couple of stories like this in the book but there are also slightly shorter simpler ones. It's a book that will grow with her and for that, it's a really nice, quality read that's been added to her bookshelf.

Beautiful book
I think this book is wonderful! All Andersen's classic tales told in a manner that is appealing and easy to understand by children from 5-9. The illustrations are gorgeous and the text is in depth enough to hold the attention of children that are past picture books but still like pictures in their books if you know what I mean! I have bought the Grimms Fairytales (also beautiful) too but will probably put that one away for Xmas but will review it at a later date.

When I don't feel like facing reality or just need something to put me to sleep, I dive into the world of this book. I love the illustrations, as they are what I consider truly classic. The pictures, which look like magical paintings, nest among the paragraphs, and my mind smoothly drifts over the blend of text and visuals. The stories themselves are beautifully imaginative and just the right length for me. The book contains fairy tales which have many versions going around out there. I tend to prefer certain versions over others, and I am finicky over how tales are ended. I like fairy tales better when they are ended positively either in the sense of a happily ever after or in the sense of the character passing on a lesson learned from his mistakes. The versions of all the fairy tales, except one, presented in this book were wonderful and satisfactory to my taste. "The Little Mermaid" is the only story I found not quite to my satisfaction because it abruptly ended sadly while leaving out the moral shown in some of the tale's versions. Other than that, the stories are all beautiful, with endings that leave me feeling content when I close the book. There is a balance of stories with happy and tragic endings, so I can choose a story which fits my mood. This book is my escape from the real world.

De belles illustrations au début de chaque histoire (12) mais hélas très peu après. Dommage, pour les plus grands donc

The perfect sized book with wonderful illustrations in a comprehensible, modern English, retelling. It surpassed my expectations. The stories themselves are witty and fun.
