but for heavy daily users like myself, I think the Rhinowares is well worth ...
I purchased this after wearing out the handle on a Porlex hand grinder through heavy daily use. The design and manufacture of this grinder is basically the same as the Porlex, but with design improvements to fix several minor reliability and ergonomic issues. It is more expensive, but for heavy daily users like myself, I think the Rhinowares is well worth the price premium. The grinding process is smoother, faster, and more comfortable, and the redesigned handle attachment will not progressively loosen over time. The only drawback is that the Rhinowares grinder is slightly too wide to fit inside the plunger of an Aeropress (which the Porlex will do).

Great bit of kit
I had a porlex, which was fine until the grinding arm just annoyed me by the number of times it would come off during grinding. I tried this to see if it was any better. It is. The grinding arm fixes on much more securely and the whole thing feels a bit nicer to hold. The grind quality is identical. In fact, the ceramic burrs are basically identical. So you get a 'meh' porlex quality grind. Fine for a filter grind, but forget it for a good espresso grind, this is no way consistent enough. I find that you get quite quite a lot of 'fines' (ultra-small coffee dust) at all grind settings. It's not terrible, but just don't expect Mazzer quality or anything. I happily use this at work most days. The issue I have with all of these types of grinders is that they just aren't that comfortable to hold. This is not a fault though. I do use it at work every day happily. In summary: Great grinder for filter when you don't have a grinder already and can't justify or afford something more expensive. An improvement from the porlex as the handle doesn't fall off and uses a regular hexagonal shape connector. Identical grind quality to the porlex. Expect proportional grind quality to the amount you pay for it!

this is the best 33 quid you can spend
If you are getting into fresh ground coffee, this is the best 33 quid you can spend. Your coffee will taste way better than any preground beans. You'd pay 3-4 times as much for equivalent quality in an electric grinder, and as such this is a bargain. On a more general level. This is a good brew/pouover grinder, and small enough to take travelling. It can grind tight enough for espresso too, but that requires much more effort.

Sent damaged goods (I think) but in theory, this is fantastic.
I am not sure how to deal with this, so I am trying through a review. I bought this a couple of weeks ago, and only had occasion to use it today; I wanted to do a grind for a V60. In reading how the control knob should be set, instructions referred to 'clicks'. My control knob wasn't clearly clicking, but I thought it was me being an idiot. I added the one scoop of coffee beans and set to grinding. It took forever - much longer than in videos, and something felt wrong - it was juddery. After I drank the *lovely* cup of coffee (this hand grinding thing is certainly the business), I looked at some more you tube videos and disassembled the grinder - the inner ceramic burr which is a highly symetric tricorn shape in the videos was, in mine, slightly chipped on one of the three corners, and the burr wasn't 'sitting' properly within the outer burr. I have managed to put it back together so that the control knob *does* click, but I assume that I was sent one either badly assembled or with a damaged burr in the first place. How do I ask for a replacement burr? Or get an undamaged grinder sent to me? I did pay quite a lot for this, and the damaged burr does seem to work, but I am sure that it will 'break down' sooner rather than later, so I am a bit miffed.

Although it does grind well it is inappropriately named as it is not that tough. The plastic parts are not well made. The top fitting just broke away and the bottom half does not fit the top half too well and falls off when grinding. Would be OK for about £10.

Bought in 2016 and still going strong!
Excellent grinder. I use it with a stove top and lately an aeropress. The coffee always tastes better from this as compared to an electric grinder I use when I'm in hurry. Worth the extra effort. Easy to adjust the grind. Bought this in 2016 and it's still going strong (review written in 2019). Great to be able to enjoy freshly ground coffee on a picnic or on holidays. Highly recommended.

A good bit and some not so good plastic bits.
This grinder does grind well. I'm much less impressed by the fact that fewer than one dozen uses the handle is starting to not fit as smoothly and securely as it did initially. I have the impression that shortly it will become a very sloppy / poor fit. The small container that collects the grounds works itself loose whilst grinding. It hasn't fallen off yet, I am expecting it to do that soon. If folk would like a short video I would be happy to upload that. Current impression, grinds well, not sure that this device will live long enough to warrant its price tag.

One at home, one at work - all round excellent coffee. One of them has started to squeak a bit, but have spoken to the manufacturer and they are helping me out. Great grind, great size, easy to keep clean. Essential for awesome coffee.... Could have bought an electric one for home BUT I like the feeling of earning the coffee

Have used this grinder for a week now and continue to be impressed with the quality of its construction, and with how well it performs. I use it to grind beans for one cup at a time, so the grinding process is completed in about a minute. It is comfortable to hold, doesn't slip, and the handle has never come off while grinding. The top cap can seem a bit loose when grinding, so I hold onto it with a finger. The grinding mechanism is entirely stable within the unit. The grind selector is a wheel at the bottom of the grinder mechanism, and it works remarkably well. The various grinds are consistent and dust-free. I don't believe the finest grind would make espresso geeks happy, but it would surely produce decent coffee. So far, I haven't encountered a single criticism with the product. This is my first burr grinder, and I'm very happy to have purchased it. It truly does improve coffee flavor over the old blade-type grinders!

Small and compact but sturdy
