More consistent, reliable, and easier readings than a normal tape-measure. 5/5
I've been taking body measurements with a normal tape measure for quite a while, with no real issue (I thought). I tended to get quite decent and consistent readings, but it could be tricky to do things like your chest or thighs with it.I was recommended to purchase this little gadget, which is just a normal tape measure which can be clipped onto itself. This allows you to clip it around your body (without needing to hold it) so that you can then position it in EXACTLY the right place.Since using this, my readings have become a lot more consistent. Is it ABSOLUTELY necessary? Probably not, if you can make do with a normal tape measure. But it's cheap, simple, and has seemed to generate better readings for me. If you're particularly lean, this will be of more concern: as you need to capture the smallest of changes to understand whether changes you're making in diet or training are having an effect.

Great Product
As already mentioned, this product is great, it is accurate and easy to use, much much much easier than using a normal tape measure. I found it difficult to try hold it in place and then read the measurement, and to make sure it is secure and not too loose etc etc. This product makes sure that it isnt too tight but is a snug fit giving you accurate measurements each time. The product seems durable and will last a long time. Definitely worth buying for those that want to lose weight but do not want to rely on just the scales, as you may of lost fat, but gained muscle hence not losing weight but losing inches/cm.Recommended product!

A good product, with some minor flaws
This is a decent little item.I have been using this for a few weeks now, and it works well. Good for getting a measurement of yourself if you are alone, or don't want to inflict your naked form on anyone else. Two minor issues:- As mentioned in another review, the "latch" which forms the loops is easily knocked out. A minor frustration.- If using the latch and release method, the device is only accurate to within roughly 3cm. Personally I would prefer the notches in the device to be smaller, so measurement is more accurate. To explain, if you can see the tape, you can read off the measurement directly. But if you are measuring an area where you can't read it, then you need to take the measurement, and un-latch the tape to remove it. The tape then snaps back to the nearest notch, which are about 2.75cm (inch and a bit) apart.I would still recommend this tape measure, its just not quite perfect.

Not great but what's better?
If you hope to measure fine changes of your body measurements, then steer clear of this as this will not do its job. This is what I am using it for (at least trying), tracking weekly changes of 9 body measurements, and have done so for several months now, and found that despite all this practice it's still hit-and-miss. It gets 3 stars because I haven't found anything superior, surely there must be a better way of doing this? There are several ways I think this product could be improved upon. The tape inside pops out in 'increments', which must have something to do with the fact it's a simple mechanical spring inside that is winding it. This means that upon taking the measurement you need to hold the tape in place with your finger to look at the result, otherwise it would always be less because it would wind itself back to the nearest 'increment'. If it could be designed so that the tape always stayed in place of measurement it would have been much better (or have a button to stop the winding action completely). Additionally, I am flexing muscles every time for each measurement and can tell that the tape has a certain level of resistance, which means that it doesn't move by the 1-2mm upon flexing but stays in place until you can flex, lets say, 3mm in which case it gives. This could be improved also.Second improvement could be with the pin that is meant to secure the tape in place at the other end. You can slot it in very easily but there's nothing holding it in so it pops out easily, too. This means that, again, you need to hold it with your finger as you wiggle the tape to the exact place of measurement.Thirdly, it's just not that great for all measurements. OK for big circumferences (waist, chest) but not necessarily smaller ones like biceps. I find that the curve of the tape's body is a bit too long for that and that it sticks out a little producing an inaccurate reading (hence, please make it a bit shorter, which would still work for bigger measurements). You'd be better off using a standard tape for this, in which case might as well for everything.Lastly, maybe instead of relying on the measurement on the tape develop a simple electronic display? Surely shouldn't be too hard in this day and age but I may be asking for too much. If you are tracking changes so finely, you really need something super accurate and this is not.If these improvements could be incorporated (or completely new device designed with this in mind), I would buy it in a heartbeat for any price.

Makes measuring around your arms much easier!
After being advised by my PT to take regular photos and measure my upper arms, thighs, hips and waist every week to show non-scale weight loss progress, I did a lot of research into tapes that would be durable, portable (I travel a lot) and would make the whole measurement process quick and easy. I've been using Myotape alongside an iPhone app called Bodytrack.it for 3 years now, and I can't recommend them highly enough. Not only does the hook-around feature on the tape ensure you're consistent with your readings, but it negates all the faff associated with trying to measure your biceps one-handed!I've reached my target now but I still take it all around the world with me and as long as I keep on measuring and logging my results and photos on the app, I know I won't go too far off track.Durability-wise it has been excellent, although I have had to order a new one as the nobble has just come off the end of tape. However, seeing as it has been used every week - and sometimes on a daily basis - for 3 years, I think that's more than acceptable.Top marks all round.
