Q: what's the difference between the sf- wrenches and the n- wrenches?

The N wrenches are 12 inches long, SF are 16. The SF is the way to go imho. You’ll appreciate those extra 4 inches.

No, they come loose in a box if I'm remembering right.

The set I received ranges from an approx 12" length for the 20mm x 22mm wrench down to a 6.75" length for the 6mm x 7mm wrench. I like the wrenches I got, but I have no experience with the "N" wrenches you reference. So I can't tell you what the differences are.
