The item that I received had a lot of dust on it so I suspect it was sitting in the warehouse for long time! However, the item itself feels sturdy and well-built. Plastics are of good thickness and quality. The reel operation is fairly smooth as well so packing up of the item after use is easy. The splash covers can be a bit of a fiddle as they were quite stiff and required fair bit of force to close it. But mind your fingers when you apply pressure as you can pinch the skin off your fingers if you are like me!! In all, sturdy item that I hope will stand the test of time.

The first thing people should realise is that this is NOT waterproof, and not claimed to be, by the manufacturer. It is rated IP54, which means it has "Limited protetcion against dust ingress", and protected against "water splashes from any direction" . This is the exact wording from the IP54 definitions. Some people interpret that to mean that it is "weatherproof". But the word "proof" might mean different things to different people - eg will it remain safe to use (or dry internally) in a light shower vs an all-day sustained downpour . This is meant for TEMPORARY use outdoors. Of course you might get away with using it in ways it is not designed for, but at least understand what you are doing. As an extension cable it is great quality. It seems sturdy and well-made. Just remember to clkose the caps over the sockets and if there is a light shower while it is in use or sitting waiting to be used, you should have no problem.

Works well, pretty solid product. Some parts are staring get a bit loose after a few months of moderate use. Hard to say if it will last a long time but for now it seems good enough

I bought this to add more range to my outdoor xmas lights, as has been mentioned by others the larger plugs will fit but the plug cover does not then seal which is a shame, to get round this I just placed a plastic storage box upside down over the whole reel and weighed it down with a couple of bricks, probably not the best solution in terms of health and safety but worked fine no matter the weather over the 3 or 4 weeks the lights were in the garden. I currently have it running out to a summer house in the garden, the lights and radio fit within the plastic covers so it is now working as intended. Great price and works as described, I would recommend it **EDIT** Just realised the price of this is now £34!!! shocking, Amazon were selling this themselves but appear to be out of stock, I would recommend buying elsewhere at this current price, I bought this December 2014 from Amazon at £13.99

Masterplug HLP2013/2IP Two Socket Outdoor Weatherproof Case Reel, 20 Metres. We have owned this for many years and its been perfect for many jobs. The long extention lead is excellent and easy to wind up its made of strong plastic with covers for plugs,totally waterproof. No issues a good quality. We would highly recommend this product.

Typical masterplug quality. Proper heavy duty tough cable and great plug covers. I use this for a water feature and keep it behind a plant pot where snow or excess rain cant soak it too much, and with sockets facing up. I doubt it would survive a winter under snow out in the open but its not meant for that. As with all extensions, watch out for power loading. Muppets attach 2000W patio heaters to these and wonder why they burn out! No problem with mowers, lights and occasional power tools.

Bought for £25 9 years ago. Has solidly provided 10a continuously for 10h+ to charge an EV almost every day for the last 3 years. Still going strong.

I don't normally write reviews at the first instance, I leave it for a couple of weeks to see how my purchase is up to the task, I'm really pleased with the two socket reel, it's pretty robust and up to the task around my business needs, it's really waterproof and stable on the floor especially with water over spray. Great bit of kit, very quick delivery service and communication with the company is very positive. 5x👍 from me
