Hoffman 16504 Horticultural Perlite, 18 Quarts

Good price and good product WITHOUT added ingredients like Miracle Grow (aka soil killer). If you are looking for healthy soil, this is the way to go. I added it to some coconut coir to help balance out the moisture. I find that works better than peat moss for moisture and it doesn't decompose quickly. Throw in some good organic compost and you are set!

Love! I’ve purchased other perlite brands before and was bracing for dust with mask and glasses for protection. Super happy that this one had no dust at all when pouring and mixing. Nice good quality and size. Used this to mix with compost, coco coir, and organic potting soil for strawberries and tomatoes in containers and it seems to provide good drainage. Plants are growing super fast!

I got more than I bargained for in this perlite, all good! When I ran out of houseplant/seed soil for transplanting, I used good garden soil, which I learned is far from the same thing! It wasn't long before I had lots of little gnats swarming in the soil and flying about the house. Suggestions from online gardeners didn't work; everything from commercial sprays to household solutions using vinegar, detergent, peroxide didn't help at all. I finally read an article about mixing perlite in the potted soil to stop the gnats from laying eggs in it. All I did was sprinkle some on the top layer, and without disturbing my plants, worked it in a bit. Within 2 days, all of the gnats were gone! Fantastic stuff!

I have used a lot of Hoffman's products over the years and have never had an issue with quality. This perlite is the same as the rest. I purchased it knowing it was labeled as "horticultural" perlite and it is exactly that. Somehow, I was hoping for something just a little coarser, but this works just fine. It should be noted that my use for this product falls a little outside of the mainstream. Perlite is an excellent insulator and that is why I purchased it. It performs exactly as expected, even though I am not using it for "horticultural" purposes. The product arrived in good condition, very quickly. I thought the price was just a little on the high side, especially for an Amazon product....But it was worth every penny and I seriously doubt if I could have purchased it any cheaper anywhere else. Four stars for a good product, properly described and suitable for the purpose. Nothing more needs to be said..!!

The size of the perlite is uniform and aesthetically pleasing. It's perfect for if you're looking to grow something in a small pot because it doesn't take up much space and helps keep soil moisture at a good level. It's also not crushed up and super dusty like other perlite that I've purchased before.

It's perlite, and acts as perlite should. It's more expensive here versus picking up at the hardware store, but for having it delivered to your door it's a good deal. Not really anything else to say--good deal if you don't want to pick perlite up from a local store.

Very happy with the size. Everyone sold locally is in super small bags and once I bought enough to equal this amount, I would have spent a lot more. It's a good value for me. I was initially not happy with how fine and powdery some of the material was, but it seems to be working very well regardless. I would buy this again.

Nothing to dislike about this perlite. It is just what I needed to add to my Hoffman Cactus Soil.

I got the amount I needed, and at a price that didn't break the bank. Can't really do better than that.
