Sea to Summit Ultra-Sil Duffle Bag (40-Liter)

I am a frequent overseas traveler and as such have taken a lot of time to lighten and reduce my load when traveling. Sometimes when overseas you want to bring a piece of that culture back, but how? On a trip to Brazil, I was able to bring the crystal decorations back in my TravelPro crew 9 21" spinner (buy one!! 300000+ miles and going REAL strong) and transfer my clothes and soft items into the duffel with no problem. Put a zip tie through the zippers (to prevent accidental opening) check the duffel and carry on the TPc9. It arrived a little dusty, but no worse for wear. Similarly, in China, I loaded it up, but this time with boxes of tea and things. Bursting at the seams I was skeptical. But in the end it came down the conveyor in one piece. Mind you this was stuffer Full Corners were protected with loose clothes. No tears. No rub marks. No damage to zipper. A surprise for me!!! This thing is a tank! And it stuffs down into its package which makes it easy to bring on each trip. This thing is great!Like others have said there is no reinforcement. So don't turn it into a toolbox or put fragile things in it. There is no shoulder strap...but the handles are very tough. Also I use it for additional room. I am not using it as my primary so I give up a little in features for a robust product. This thing has already paid for itself and as I write this it is will be bringing home another load in a weeks time. (I also have the S2S 20L daypack, that helps with the shopping at markets...which then get transferred to this guy. They are a great team that still allows me to fly out without a checked bag and fly back with one checked and a carry on of goodies. Take that! Airlines ;)

When stuffed in it's attached sack, this tiny little bag tucks away in your carry-on, only about 3" long. We travel light, only carry-on luggage and have taken this for the "just in case" purchases that fill up our bags. Have checked this one home with jeans and t-shirts inside, twice, and it came through great. Can put a lock and name tag on the zippers for checking. Or, check your more sturdy carry-on and take this one with you. Either way, great investment! Full size it is 22" long x 11" wide x 10" high.

My wife and love love this bag and the companion backpack. Incredible how small they fold up (fits in the palm of your hand like a "round" deck of cards), yet how durable they are. Fantastic bags which we always take with when we travel around the world or anywhere local. Hardly takes up any extra space or weight, yet gives us the option of having extra storage if needed. Highly recommend.

Remarkable how a 3 oz stuff sac opens into a 40 liter duffle. Great insurance if you luggage burst open from rough baggage handlers. And if you are told your carryon is too big to carry on, transfer contents until flight the attendant iapproves and let them check you luggage filled with dirty laundry.

After buying the Sea to Summit Ultra-Sil Day Pack (Blue, 20-Liter), I thought I wanted something bigger and did not regret the purchase. I now carry both of them with my shoulder pack. They're very convenient to carry, especially when I'm travelling. I usually travel with just a carry-on. But sometimes I end up buying souvenirs on the way back. It's easy to open either or both up, transfer some items, and check my backpack as luggage, and keep the duffle and/or the day pack as my carry-ons.

Amazing how such a light, compact item can open up into a medium sized duffle bag that can be checked in. Appears strong in spite of the light weight. Gave it 4 stars because it was priced a little high, but would recommend the product if lightweight and compact is what you need.

SO tough, gets SO small (with some effort stuffing). Their stuff is very high quality. Always goes into my suitcase so I can bring home treasures, etc.
